What does it mean the number behind my hubs? Sometimes it is 71, 69 or 61. i would like to know that.

I really don't understand why i can't write a Hub in spanisch. We are missionaries for the hispanic countries and lots of my work is in spanish! This is the only reason I don't have more hubs and that i will be leaving you soon.

I hope this won't be perceived as spam, but I wanted to let the people who commented about making money with hubs that I have an extensive hub (7,000+ words!) that explains step-by-step how to make money on HubPages.

If you click on my profile and look under the "Best" hubs tab, you'll see it. It's called "How to Make Money Writing on HubPages." (You might have to scroll through a few screens to find it.)

I came to HubPages looking for ways to make money writing online. But I write online to act as a catalyst for good ideas to take root in society. HubPages allows me to join those two goals of mine, helping myself financially while helping others.

I've been on HubPages for a year and a half now (with a fair part of that spent off-site). And it's definitely paying. I'm also rewarded when I find that my Hubs have been viewed almost seventy thousand times... there's definitely some catalyzing effect in there somewhere, taking place out in society.

Widgets! Gimmee widgets! Capsules to allow my Hubs to do more... since I use them as many diverse ways as I can think of.

- Let 'em play MP3s right on the page, and I can review music on my Hubs.

- Give me a Capsule to allow me to display books (published, or for-sale .PDFs) from Lulu.com, and I can promote independent books, Hub-authored and otherwise, for commission the way we currently promote eBay and Amazon products.

- Give me a scripting language, and I can design Capsules for others and write Hubs about them (like Firefox does with add-ons).

There are so many possibilities, all the site has to do is enable them. =)

Be well,

- Satori

Hey thank you so much for asking. It would be cool if we could plug in widgets from Clickbank and other affiliate sites. I think. Heck I don't know really--I'm just thinking out loud. I started here just having fun and trying to get some exposure for my writing (so I could refer Elance clients to stuff I'd written), then started having fun making friends, then had less fun but was making enough ad revenue that I didn't want to quit.

I'd love a feature whereby I could block specific trolls from commenting on my hubs while still allowing others access. I know I can delete hate mail and nastiness but I still have to look at it and it gets to me sometimes. :)

My answers weren't entirely accurate as there was no button to click for my real reasons for beginning on hub pages: learning to use the site. I actually did a lot of looking around on the site before I jumped; it seemed like a comfortable place to begin what was really very new to me: publishing my work online. I was totally unfamiliar with any of the technology and learned a lot very quickly! Previously, my only electronic contributions had been to blogs. Thanks for making this easy and fun for an old gal learning something new!

Hi,

Two things:

1] I am in the UK and an ebay/EPN affiliate. Quite a lot of what I write is UK specific, but when I add in an ebay module it displays US products. This is annoying as I would like to be able to point them at specific UK items. This is quite an issue for at least half of what I write - and it does tend to hold me back a bit as I don't feel so focussed as I know it's unlikely to lead to EPN income. It would be good if it were possible to choose the ebay country in a module... or even if they automatically geo-targetted.

2] I notice there are other adverts showing up now - from MSN, that I am not an affiliate of. I don't get hung up on it, but it's a shame that I can't benefit from those as well as the Google, EPN and Amazon ones.

Hubpages is great and I wish I'd spent more time in the past 3 years building it up ... but I am now trying to create at least one new hub per day, but the ones I am creating are taking 3-5 hours apiece, so it's a tough call some days :)

Kewl poll! I started this to see what I could do as a writer. Then I had my eyes opened - "Hey, a person can make money doing this!" I continue because I love to write, but I must be honest and say the idea of earning my living doing this is very attractive. I am always looking for opportunities to make my way writing online, but I love this community best of any I have experienced so far, so I would hate to see it become a totally commercial site. We would lose so much that way.

Thanks for asking!

Currently, I have not as yet posted my written news and sports articles pending consulting the rules and required protocals set forth by Hub Pages. I hope to review the rules and guidance so I can begin taking a more active role as a journalist for Hub Pages, especially with many different events taking place here in Austin, Texas, and help inform all readers, especially fellow Hubs and the general public, to educate and promote most of my local news coverage often limited in the smaller commmunity-based newspapers and the big city dailies alike. I also hope to share time and help my fellow Hubs educate me on coverage of future and current events and trends, and for me to be active and responsible, continuing a journalism career that spans nearly 17 years.

Wonderful Questions Ryan!!

I imagine you already suspected/knew the answers, however!!?? You guys have your finger squarely on the pulse of us Hubbers!! I LOVE that you are always one step ahead of all the other sites out there!! Your creativity is endless!! Your energy tireless!!

We are all looking for enjoyable, stimulating, creative, collabrative ways of expressing ourselves WHILE making more money!!

There are only so many hours in each day!! We each make choices based upon the benefits/costs as we expend our efforts!! Money is not the only motivating factor; HubPages works because of a world-community environment - hence all who keep writing, like myself, who have not made a cent!!

I would say our connection to one another is a huge paycheck for me!!

With the downward economy and many more people opting in for "regular" jobs, the ability to make money at HubPages would only heighten its priority on everyone's to-do list!!

When I learned a couple of years ago from James what Paul was developing, I couldn't quite grasp the concept!! Yet in such a short period of time you guys have earned the respect and admiration of people from all over the world!!

I feel blessed to be a tiny fish in this ever expanding pond!! You guys are blessed for having created the pond in the first place!!

Blessings always, Earth Angel!!

Just back from 2 weeks in the mountains!! Feeling like I have new wings!!

I also enjoy making money online but since am not a internet expert, it would be great if it would be easier to understand. We should get automatically a referral hub address & why not like some other places..contact your friends and we can automatically send to all our friends on yahoo & hotmail. I haven't referred anyone yet to come to hub pages because I don't know what to use as a referral link so that I am credited as the referer.

You have to think of the non-proffessionals who can access the internet but not easy to make links.

I haven't gotten the hang of doing a track link yet. I don't know where to look to see how much I made, how many people have been viewing me, etc.

It should be made easy for us..showing how much money we have made to encourage us to continue. I still have to figure out how I make money on hubpages..am not wired to understand how to do links etc..lolllll. am very good in many other areas but not wired in understand the mechanics of doing things.

Great idea to do a poll and should be made easy for all ages.

I love hub pages and looking forward to making $$$, meeting people which is great as I am single and spend alot of time on the internet.

I love writing and hubpages is a great place to express oneself..only I wish it was easier for me to understand how to refer, make track links etc.

Keep making polls..great way to get your Hub website the best on the internet.

I appreciate your asking. Someone has to write about the Goverment take over in this country. The constitution is being trampled and no one seems to care. It really does not matter if you agree with my views or not.

The Supreme Court has just ruled that hand gun laws in Chicago are unconstituional. This is a good sign. If a health care law is passed this will be in violation of the constitution. Specifically the tenth admendment. The protest by the great unwashed is not being covered at all by the media. All of them have been bought. How much coverage was given to the million and a half showing up in Washington DC two weeks ago Saturday. This was the largest amount of people to ever do this. The great unwashed are you, me and everyone else.

i enjoy the challenge and the discipline of putting one up every two to three weeks... and some of the comments i get back, usually via other means than posted on my hubs. As a "niche writer" i dont expect to make much from my hubs, although it would be nice to be able to buy a book or two out of it every now and then but I really appreciate the Google analytics... What does get me though are on the one hand the really futile no-effort-and-i-actually-dont-know-what-I-am-talking-about hubs, and on the other end of the scale the sometimes extremely offensive discussions, and abusive rants in the comments of certain hubs which end up being much longer than the original hub (in particular the subject evolution vs creation has a knack of throwing those up)A bit of quality control and moderation might not be out of order.

I have quite a few hubs, good ratings, lots of views, and I have made less than $25 in almost a year (which, of course, I cannot access because it is under $100.) Writing hubs is very time consuming, and I have not found it to be a wise use of my time at all. So now, I will just post the occasional movie review, but I am posting my other writing on sites I know will pay.

As I am sure make more money will be the outcome of this survey, I am curious to see what changes are made for the members to do so. I would think that the way the money is shared for adsense clicks and other affiliate links will need to change in order to accomplish this. I write for other sites that share this type money and make much more on those sites. Anxiously awaiting a reason to write more on this site which will make more money for Hubpage owners also.

I was invited to join HP because we (I invited friends and family too) were looking for ways to earn extra money online. But the Hubpages community and staff are so awesome and I've met really wonderful hubbers and read beautiful hubs that inspired, informed and entertained. I grew wonderfully with Hubpages so that is why I am still here!

After two years of being an ignoramus in the ways of the internet marketing, I was very surprised when I finally got my first pay out from google and the next and the third one is coming. Hi! Great hub and poll questions! I do wish I could have given two answers on some of them, as, while I would like to make money on HubPages, I also like writing and putting out hubs that share information that's not often available, and also to put out some of my thoughts on things. I do wish readers would answer more poll questions and leave more comments, as I find it interesting to find out what other people are thinking, but of course, it's up to them.

I do find the atmosphere at HubPages to be friendlier and more open to differing views, and the site and editing tools seem to be easy to use and understand.

Thanks for posing these questions!

Again, great hub!

Recently, I decided I wanted to venture out and focus in other areas on different sites and that includes HP. It is hard getting to know other Hubbers but again, I just have not figured out all of the in and outs here yet. I do believe HP can be built into something if I give it more attention. I know one of the Hubbers helped me a lot explaining how to add capsules to the hubs. So having this poll is a fantastic way to show that you guys do care about what happens here. Hubbing got me interested in social media and blogging which has led to other writing opportunities and networking with more wonderful people than I ever could have imagined.

Don't change a thing. I'm a happy camper:-)

I have pretty much stopped writing for Hub because there has been no money in it for me. Over the five months I've earned $4.00. I write for two other sites and earn at least $50 - $100 each month on each site. It's too bad, too, because I love the format Hubpages offers. It is possible that I've done something wrong in my article set up, but I don't know how to change it...so I spend my time writing elsewhere where my efforts will be rewarded.

The reason I'm not writing at Hubpages currently is because of Adsense. I haven't been approved for one and Hubpages doesn't pay through paypal. So, if I were to make one suggestion, it would be to offer the option of paying through Paypal as well. That will really help!

I'd like to see a system where income generated by adsense is split 60-40 literally, and not just based on 40% 0f the time the revenue going to hubpages, and the remaining 60% of the time going to the author, after all, for all we know the 40% hubpages take could be the most lucrative times of the day (or the busiest trafficwise in other words).

Also feel that I would still like a system that shows me exactly "who" has dropped out of my fan club, as I tend to reciprocate and join the fan clubs of people who join mine (on the basis I may genuinely like their writing), but also suspect that many of them only join long enough to ensure you join theirs, and then shortly after "unfan" you. I would prefer to "unfan" those same people myself, as I don't unfan people unless there is a really good reason for doing so, yet when you have a load of fans it is virtually impossible to work out who has dropped out of your fanclub.

Thanks for giving us the survey, Ryan. That's what makes HubPages so great. It is obvious that you and the staff of HP care about us Hubbers!

My friends always say my Hubs look so professional. The format and ease of use is the reason.

I found a HubPages ad at my unemployment office and decided to give it a try to make some money. I liked writing, made some great friends and stayed. I have made some money on adsense but is there a secret to Amazon? I'm getting clicks but no money.

I would like to ask the people that are not staying at HP if they have read the articles about making money on HubPages. There are quite a number of Hubs out there to help us.

Hubpages is not making complete use of all adsense features and its wide possiblities.

1. Adsense for mobile - Why dont Hubpages think of making this whole website available through mobiles and benefit from mobile ads be given to all hubbers.

2. Adsense for Search - Searching through hubpages is available in the site itself. Why a custom google search option is not available to hubbers , to earn money from the google search pages. If a person has to make a google search he has to go to the google page and make the search. If hubpages has one google search box , the hubbers can benefit from it.

A seperate section for bookmarking and sharing interesting contents which should make use of adsense ads. Duplicate content finding should be made use of in this category , so that no one copies small pieces of content and bookmarks it. Three of 4 lines of orginal narration of a interesting page and linking it will give it more Search engine ranking to hubpages. More People get attracted to Sites like Digg , if hubpages can make use of this idea , thousands of users of other websites , will share their latest articles and news here.

This will attract lot of users through searches and help hubpages top the results above major social bookmarking sites. The hub links should not be allowed to bookmark , to prevent self promotion.

Give the Hubbers more control over the arrangement of items in Profile pages.

Giving more adsense alternatives will also be a good thing to make people stick on to hubpages.

The rule should be that a person cannot make use of both adsense and adsense alternative at a single time. It should be that they can select one affilate network at a time from the many affilate networks available. This can attract lot of active publishers using other affiliate networks also to this site.

More control over adsense ads ,especially the display of image and text ads . Many times image ads displayed are useless and cause loss to hubbers.

I would like you to add more affiliate options. Amazon's one-session cookie is miserably hard to monetize. And they've dropped hubbers because of where they live. Ebay currently doesn't seem to be accepting hubbers. Kontera doesn't work for many of us.

For those of us who are here to make money, the options are very limited and uncertain. I would actually be creating a lot more hubs, if there were more monetizing options. While I do belong to all of the currently available programs, I need to be more diversified and stable.

For those not making $, it is about choosing the right niche and keywords. The Niche has to be one that pays well and gets some traffic or you won't make any money. If I wrote about fuzzy peaches, I probably wouldn't earn much. If I write about Debt Consolidation or Mortgages, I may do better. However, those Niches are very competitive.

Google has a keyword tool that can give you an idea of what to target. Their new wonder wheel and trends tools are also good.

Once you have found something good, write an article that is 500 to 1000 words long on Hub. Then you can either write some other related ones or "spin" it. Once that is done post it on places like GoArticles, Ezines, etc. Use those to point links back to your hub with proper anchor text. Here is a site that has some short and sweet posts. I am not affiliated with this site.

http://articlewritingnews.com/blog/

If you need some help send me an email and I'll do my best to give you some ideas to get you moving in the right direction.

Send to rates at bank-cd-rates[dot]net.

Plus there are lots of great hubs that give great advice. Try Searching for SEO, Article Marketing, and BUM Marketing. You should expect to probably have 15 to 40 Hubs (properly targeted) before making any sort of money.

I would like to be able to link to product pages from my own bookselling website -- not just Amazon. I don't want to be an Amazon affiliate.I am an affilate at bookcloseouts and christianbook.com, but I'd rather sell what's sitting in my own warehouse paid for that from someone else's warehouse. By the time I put one link to my site for a book and another for it's image, I've used my two links. Is that really over-promotional? I have a bit more freedom to sell my own stuff at Squidoo and I don't have to have my own affiliate accounts to sell from Amazon if I choose to. There are some things I really do like about HubPages, but I prefer to spend the bulk of my time where I think it will bring the greatest return on my time investment. So far it looks like it will be years before I have enough for a payout for my HubPages. The community here is great, but I'd like to see more flexible writing tools. On some of your questions I would have liked to answer "all of the above."

Nice that you guys (bearing in mind I love writing at hubpages.com)invented a "survey." But you made it so limited and with the inability to check more than one valid point that the results can't be as useful to you as I'd imagined it could be.

I WRITE AT HUBPAGES BECAUSE I'M A WRITER AND CAN PUBLISH HERE F A S T!!! I also WRITE AT HUBPAGES BECAUSE,HERE,I OWN MY OWN CONTENT AND HUBPAGES DOESN'T STEAL ITS OWNERSHIP (e.g., my copyright) like Helium.com does. I'm disappointed that at any given site aimed at real writers and experienced, print-published writers like myself, there is really no money to be earned (UNLESS WE LIVE TO BE 1,000 yrs old and the pennies from Google,et al. accumulate and paypal keeps up its end of the bargain).

I wish there were truly an opportunity to earn a goodly income from the terrific articles, opinions and stories I've carefully crafted here at hubpages.com I MEAN, REALLY! Not bidding low for writing assignments for a pittance that some freelance sites think are doing real writers a favor.

Hubpages.com is really great because the tools for creating hubs are easy to use and publishing is quick and wonderful...no slush-pile reader to bypass, no editor to reject my mss. or infiltrate my works with their wrong incursions, no agent to ask me what have I already published before they'll represent me, no publisher to waste my time asking me to put aside my real writing to create a marketing report for them about sales demographics relative to my subject matter and to provide research for them on so-called competitive books now on the shelves of bookstores that may touch upon my subject matter.

If I do a marketing report for an agent and/or a print publisher, WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO EARN THEIR PERCENTAGE OF THE PROFITS MY BOOKS WILL GENERATE?

I'm a writer because I do poetry, satire, fiction, commentary, book reviews, medical writing, scientific writing, even some drama. Not in order to waste my precious creative time doint sales pitches for agents & publishers or to waste my time pleading for my mss. to be read.

THE WONDERFUL VALUE OF HUBPAGES.COM IS THAT

1)I CAN PUBLISH MY WRITING EASILY, SWIFTLY AND MY WORK IS IMMEDIATELY RESPECTED AND READ.

2)I CAN EASILY GO BACK AND EDIT IT TO IMPROVE IT OR UPDATE IT WHERE NECESSARY.

3)Though I haven't needed to use this function, I CAN DELETE A WORK IF I FIND I NEED TO DO THIS.

One important suggestion: Perhaps other Hubbers (remember Hubba-Hubba from long ago?)desire this also -- When I'm notified of new hubs, and there are many, many emails of this variety, IT WOULD REALLY BE MOST HELPFUL IF THE SUBJECT OF THE NEW HUB WERE IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF THE EMAIL. Otherwise, because I'm a fan of many hubbers, my email box is so overflowing that I am forced to delete all.

Hope this adds much more information to your SURVEY and that you may implement some of these ideas. Thanx.

Overall, hubpages.com is wonderful and I provide many links to it in my other works and writings and twitterings elsewhere. Thanx again. Dr.Helen Borel/Creativita

Phew, what a lot of comments from so many great hubbers. I have answered your quiz, selecting the answer that could be considered the closest to my choice. Accurate answers are given below:

I found HubPages and even joined it as a member because that was the only way to be kept informed when a good friend and excellent writer (Feline Prophet) wrote something here! HubPages wouldn't let me be her fan unless I registered.

What motivated me to start writing? I have never been a writer, but the goading by Feline, and some friends who I made here while reading and commenting on their hubs, prompted me to write my first hub.

I have hardly been writing; have been mainly reading and commenting on the hubs by some really gifted hubbers. I have written only three hubs till now ... due to a constraint of time and a paucity of ideas. :)

Improvements? I think HubPages is a great community, with some excellent writers. Maybe you could have a system of weeding out the obvious plagiarists, and those who have no understanding of even the basics of the language - spellings, grammar, etc.

I feel that something more could be done with our profile pages, although as to what I do not know, maybe have a brainstorming session and take on board everyone elses ideas, I personally would like to have more control over our profile page and build some more interactivity in there.

Some of the questions needed the ability to leave votes for more than one answer. I'd like to say I came here for money alone, but I also wanted to have my voice heard. After quitting my job at a pet store, I 1) needed money and 2) still wanted to feel like I was making a difference for someone who had more questions about their pets. HubPages has definitely given me that outlet. I feel like I've helped many people or at least been given the opportunity to do so. Whether they listen to my advice to their concerns and questions, that's on them.

I think you guys do a great job, and do your best to comply with the ever demanding needs and wants of hubbers. There will always be issues with having a website especially with such volume as HubPages that no one can expect there to never be any problems.

Of course, I'd love for there to be fewer comment issues and text capsule problems, but hey, problems happen, and you guys do your best to fixing them as soon as possible.

I'm not so much interested in making money at this point in my career. I just would like some honest feedback about and critiques of my writing to help me develop my skills.

My only real complaint is that people cannot join my fan club without setting up a hubpages membership. Many of my fans have said that to me. They don't want a membership. They simply want to be notified when I publish something new.

I think that is detrimental both to all writers' audiences and to hubpages because, yes, you have a massive number of subscribers but the majority of them aren't even writers. Maybe I'm just naive. On the other hand, I have to send a mass email out every time I publish something.

I have made enough money to stay interested although this is a small part of what I do online.

I'd like to see better ad options for Hubs, specifically better Amazon ads. Amazon provides some very helpful ad widgets that outshine the simple product lists we're stuck with here. I'd like to be able to use those in my Hubs. Carousels and slideshows in particular but some others as well.

In general, HubPages lets me control what I'm doing. I like that. Please continue to keep your nose out of my business, HP.

I initially came to HubPages because I heard that you can make money blogging, and I went to Google and found several, but stopped looking after I found the "Pages." This is the only site that I found to be user friendly enough for computer illiterates like myself. After I started writing, I learned to love writing, something that I'd never done before, so making money is secondary to me reading and writing here. I am learning so much from hubbers, I am so glad that I found the site.

You should encourage hubbers to look at the ads, because most are not, and owning to that we are missing out on a lot of products and services. I periodically peruse the ads and find interesting products and services. I've joined some of the sites advertised through Google, on hubbers pages.

It's not so much about the almighty dollar, but a few bucks goes a long way to make you feel good about what you do, which I assume most of us love to communicate, to write, and it's important to do what you love, even if you get a little hungry doing it because there's no pay in it.

here, there could be some actual generation of our exchange system. I'd hate to think there are people writing here, not from their own heart, or experience, and just putting up other people's words...I don't think that's what this place is about. I haven't seen it yet and I know I won't be their fan in that case.

sadly, it happens in all categories of living.

It's well organized, friendly, user friendly and nobody has bitten me yet..ouch!

and I do like this survey. makes me feel a part of it all, although I'm brand new here.

thanks Hub pages...LR

I'm aiming to earn a living from writing, so I can give up working for other bosses. Therefore I treat my hubs like a business, BUT, I LOVE writing, so what better thing is there than to earn a living from something you love doing. That's the aim!

I'm surprised how many people are here looking to make money directly from their hubs!

I think if you want to make money writing on the web, you really need to learn a bit about Internet Marketing, and build your own website or blog (or get one built for you).

Writing here is easier (the tools are very good - and make it very simple) - but I would be surprised if you make as much money as doing your own thing - because you have to share the revenue with HubPages. That's fair - they need to get paid for creating all those great tools, and running this cool site!

I've just started posting hubs and enjoy the process. There is an awesome community here and I hope to see the opportunity for attending a conference so I can meet some of you personally. In the meantime, I'll enjoy reading your hubs and writing you mail.

My initial, and, to be honest, reason to continue writing is the thrill of seeing my name "in print." I like the idea of others -- who I consider to be good "critics" -- expressing their opinions of my work and offering suggestions. There is also the possibility that I might make some money from my writing, either here or having a paid contract become available. I'm also looking for copy editing work -- Let me at it. I'd also like soe suggestions as to how much to charge.

Fast survey to answer and a good idea, thanks!

Probably pipe dreaming... but would sure prefer to make our author page as functional as a blog page where you can add your own code and do interesting things like add photos and the like.

It is about the money, but I would also like to get rid of spam and see more incentives. But I do love to eat. :)

Above everything else, I appreciate hubpages for having given me a chance to archive my shoebox full of 40 year old letters from Vietnam. I've tried other platforms, but the feature that keeps me coming back is the statistical information. The scene in "Julie and Julia" plays in my mind each time I look at the statistics. She sees one fan and she's inspirted to go on. The reporting of the statistics in Hubpages somehow suits me over the other reporting on blogspot and wordpress. It's accessible, intelligible, and useful for analysis of which hubs created more interest.

Suggestions for making an ingenius platform even better:

1. Flexibility

a. flexibility with the original concept. The "how to" emphasis of this site could be expanded, I think. Writers have done that themselves by submitting poetry, opinions,(40 year old letters :) etc. but I think this could be encouraged by categorizing in a different way. Just a thought. The vision of this site was probably never to have an archive of letters, I imagine, but I adapted the structure to meet my personal need. It wasn't easy to come up with a way to do this. Eventually, I created a hub which indexes all "episodes". This seems to work well. Perhaps running hubs that have "chapters" or episodes could be accomodated by a software application.

b. flexibility in allowing outside comments: I may be wrong, but it seems as if outsiders who want to make a comment have to sign up before they can. Maybe there is a setting I missed, but it seems to me opening up that feature will create more traffic

c. flexibility in the capsule placement. This would involve the software engineers. The capsule concept is nice, but at the present, limiting. If you work with blogspot, there is more flexibility in terms of creating the look and feel of a blog.I think that limiting the picture insert to a capsule instead of within the text limits the possibilities. In addition, I have a hard time inserting mp3 files.

d. flexibility in rewarding longer hubs: I'm not quite sure this is a criteria, but in this fast paced age, I wonder if the concept of the hub with the richest and most complete information is the right emphasis - rich, "yes," but long, "no." I think shorter hubs that link to the next sub topic within a hub might be more useful to the reader (This reverts again to "a" a bit. For example: a Hub on "How to Become a Sign Language Interpreter" could be created in segments: "How to Become a Sign Language Interpreter: People Who are Drawn Into the Field". The second hub could be "How to Become a Sign Language Interpreter - Training Programs" and so on. I understand we can do this now, but it's klunky in operation and the indexing.

d. flexibility in allowing writers work to be non-exclusive to hubpages. For example, if I've written a piece years ago for someplace like mypeacecity.com, it would be nice if I could also publish it at hubpages. I understand the need to control plagarism, but if a writer chooses to post his own work in more than one venue, I think that only serves everyone. Perhaps a request could be made that if you have a work published on another blog, reference that other blog to hub pages.

Capacity for Earning Money

a. I think a hub should be posted by the staff that states actual earning potention - the maximum and the minimum and all the hubs relating to this topic should be combined and edited with permission of hubber. Maybe a small fee could be extended to hubs used for this compilation. And how about some video instructions instead of printed for those of us who are more auditory and learn better with video. I know, everything takes time and money, (even making money:)

b. Thinking outside the hub box. Many of the Hubs are excellent enough to be made into ebooks and sold on Amazon, etc. Collaboration with these outlets by Hubpages might be a very synergistic endeavor. For example, BKCreative's Hubs would be a perfect ebook. It's fine to see the hubs published one by one, but I do feel people would like to "own" this content in one place as a book. Hubpages could take a slight percentage, the distributor, could have a percentage, and the author. By the way, there is a really nice page turning piece of software by desktoppublishers that allows for the creation of ebooks. In addition, Podiobooks.com also allows for audio books in podcasts. Collaboration with all of these types of sources would be dynamic.

c. I think there needs to be a marketing guru who swoops in and takes a look at monetizing as it now exists - a guy like Warren Buffet! Maybe more intense collaboration with Google...I don't know.

Clarity:

It would help if the guidelines were a little more clear in regard to linking to your own business. I have a small educational software company, but I don't actively link there because I don't want to cross over the line of promotion.

But even if everything remains the same on Hubpages, I would like to thank those who came up with this concept in this particular form and the statistical feedback that it gives. Posting the letters I have from 40 years ago has given me more understanding of myself and more psychological healing than I could ever measure. I love that people are reading the letters, but more than that, I know that because I can archive them in this way, they will be on the web for more people to read for a long, long time. I don't have grandchildren. This is giving me a chance at a legacy (if only a small portion of one) and I will be forever grateful!

I have probably made a grand total of $3.00 off adsense ! I am a complete bonehead when It comes to Internet marketing or anything In the arena . So therefore I decided I will soldier on and keep producing mediocre hubs for everyone to yawn at , because I never considered myself a writer . I am just a guy with an opinion ! Besides I never knew I would find It so enjoyable . And I have had grow around me a community of friends and some are becoming close friends !

How can that be bad ?

Thanks, Ryan, for this survey. It likely indicates many things you and your colleagues are interested in, but the end game really is to be better and better, and generate more and more interest, and not just for the buck. After all, sites like this can become a catalyst to encourage meaningful change or to add to a growing participation online that can leapfrog the mundane mainstream and be noticed... glad to have this forum.

I voted, choosing the best answer which was fairly easy.

I'm here almost by accident, but it is fun and fulfilling.

HubPages is interesting, informative, sometimes argumentative, but always 'open'. I like the freedom of expression and response, and realization that our words can go all over the net and be read/answered by anyone. Money, no I'm not there, but I am happy to be here myself! Thanks for listening!
