How to get a cat to stop meowing
55There are many reason cats cry for attention. I will give a great example that recently happened to me. My cat wanted my attention because she wanted to use the bathroom. I assumed that after a while she would give up, go about her business and I will clean up after her. That is what happened, but it was not where I expected, because I woke up to a nice surprise at my feet. Knowing this is not my cat's normal behavior I dismissed it as a warning but did it again.
My cat called for my attention the next day and I knew again it was because she did not have adequate use of a restroom and she wanted me to solve the problem. Again I dismissed her needs and went to back to sleep. I woke up to nice stream of hot cat pee on my legs. I finally got the hint and will make sure that at all time my cat bathroom needs are properly taken care of before I go to bed.
Haven't said all of that I will first like to ask, is your cat spayed or neutered?
You have to make sure that your cat is not in heat, because that could be the reason for the crying. I made sure to spay my cat at an early age because I knew she wasn't going to have access to other cats and raising more cats is expensive. Once you check yes, for cat being spayed or neutered, we can move on to next step.
Is your cat eating? Make sure you have a bowl of dry food and water accessible to her at all times. Cats like to have something to nibble on at all times of the day. Unlike wet foods, dry food is healthy. Once your cat has the proper food supply at her fingertips.
Make sure that it isn't lonely. That would be another reason a cat would seek attention. If they are not getting enough attention from the owner. When I am home, I make sure to take time out and play fetch with my cat. It's her favorite game and it shows her that I love her. Even if she doesn't bring the ball back all the time, she likes chasing it. When it's the right size ball, she brings it back. When she is tired from playing she will let you know by either watching the ball sail across the room or laying down. Than you can go do your own things.
Make sure that the litter box is clean at all times, also. I think once all those areas are taken care of you cat should be happy. If it is still meowing after you made sure to daily handle all those situations, your next step is to take her to a vet to find out what is wrong.

Thanks for the article -- in truth I think she just wants to be outside, and frankly, who can blame her...
