Why I Chose An LG HDTV
72I went out and bought an LG HDTV recently. First of all, I have to admit that while I enjoy watching TV, it has not been an important part of my day or even my week. My previous television was a RCA. I am sure many of you are unfamiliar with the brand. They went out of business in 1986. It always worked and I was able to get half a dozen channels clearly on it. Frankly, that was all I needed.
When everybody decided to switch over to HDTV I knew I was in trouble. I tried to get one of those HD receivers for free but, they were all gone by the time I got around to it. So a new TV was really my only choice. I spent countless hours researching my options and almost gave up on the whole process. But I did manage to stick with it and eventually decided on an LG HDTV. I am so happy I did.
What Is LG HDTV? Or Even HDTV?
HD stands for High Definition Television (and LG is a manufacturer of HDTV televisions). This just means that the TV signal is digital rather than analogue. Of course, digital is better because you get much more finite detail in the image and the quality of sound. Analogue signal maxes out at 480 horizontal lines when creating the picture. HDTV currently maxes out at 1080 horizontal lines. That is more than twice as detailed a picture.
Price And Quality Of LG HDTV
One of the biggest reasons I chose an LG HDTV was price. When I looked closely at all the features included on a Sony or Samsung or Phillips and then found the same size TV with the same features made by LG, it was always at a lower price. I kept asking myself why anyone would pay more money for the same quality.
This made me take a closer look at the quality of the LG brand. I found that the reviews of LG HDTV models were overwhelmingly positive. Very few people had problems with dead pixels. Dead pixels cause small sections of the screen not to light up anymore. The picture quality on the LG is also rated among the highest. When I compared what I found out about LG with other brands, I still could not find a difference.
Can't Wait To Add Dish To My LG HDTV
I bought an LG HDTV and brought it home. This was definitely one of my better purchases in years. I already have an appointment to get Dish HDTV installed next week. Sometime between 8 and 2 on Thursday.
