Why I Hate Firefox?

I was helping my daughter this morning with a report that she had to for college on four different internet browsers. Unfortunately, one of the browsers we had to look at was Firefox.

See, I am a diehard Microsoft fan. I have been since the beginning of the internet and I still am. I love Internet explorer. I always have and I always will.

I do understand about the security flaws in internet explorer. I really have never had any problems with them that I know about. Although if someone were to hack into my computer, really how would I know about it unless they did some damage to my files.

I installed Firefox this morning on my Windows 7 RC desktop and guess what, the file I downloaded from the firefox website said that the file was corrupt. What a wonderful way to start off, I thought. So, I downloaded it again, same thing. Then I decided to download it for the third time and it actually worked.

Firefox has one really annoying feature that I see still hasn't changed to this day. It always wants to be the default browser. I don't want to make it my default browser. Once firefox was installed I tried it out and the first message I got was about making it my default browser. Gee, I thought I had already told Firefox I didn't want to make it my default browser. How annoying is this thing?

Then I tried to work on the tabbed browsing in Firefox. What a joke!!! You actually had to go in and tell it to display tabbed browsing!!! What the heck. I like Internet Explorer's tabbed browsing much better because it is right there. I didn't have to tell it to display them.

So, my impression with Firefox has not changed one bit. I'm still a diehard Microsoft fan.

I have Firefox, and it's my default browser because I absolutely hate IE - and always have.  For me, it's been IE that tries to be the default even after I say "NO!".  And I never had to tell FF to use tabbed browsing.  It just does.

Nice hub, tho.  ;D

Thank you for your comment JamaGenee. See I have always used Internet Explorer and I did have to tell Firefox twice that I did not want it to be the default and I did have to tell Firefox to use tabbed browsing. It was Firefox 3 that I installed if that makes a difference. I am glad you wrote your comment though. It made me think that I have never been on the other side of things where Firefox is my default.

Yeah, I'm with JamaGenee. I use FireFox because it's faster, but before that I was an Opera user. You want to talk about a browser that always wants to be default? Opera is annoying, and I find myself hating the way that it works.

With a computer that is inclined to frequently crash, i adore FireFox. It gives me the option to load from where I was last browsing (when I crashed) and it also loads straight into any unfinished writing I might be doing.

The problem you had with installation could have had something to do with I.E. My husband had to nix it for Avant when he kept getting IE downloading viruses!

Thank you for your comment, Everyday Miracles. Yes, you are probably right about the installation issue. I knew I was in trouble for writing this hub because I don't think there are too many diehard Microsoft fans out there.

It's okay to love MS, Debbie :) No worries there! My husband is the same way, I might add. He only had to switch due to the fact that IE kept downloading viruses onto our computer!

My daughter actually wanted me to switch to Opera. I told her no, sorry I'm a diehard Microsoft fan. Thank you for your comment, Everyday Miracles.

I don't think I could love Firefox more. It's much faster, uses an incredible amount less memory, warns me when I'm about to download a virus (which has saved me at least three times) or open a webpage which will infect my computer, blocks popups on its own without any extra software, crashes less, saves your current tabs and restarts where you were on the rare occasions it does crashes, and has a million great plugins and addons that make my life a million times easier. I can't even think of all the ways Firefox is better there are so many, but those alone are priceless.

Eyeam4anarchy thank for your comment. I'm sure there are lots of things to love about Firefox but I am still a die-hard Microsoft fan, sorry.

Hey DW.

I understand your frustrations. I'm not a big fan of IE, but with all of these browsers and websites that support different ones in different ways, I have Firefox, IE and Google Chrome. Firefox is my default though. If you are annoyed with the default requests, you can go into the options and turn off the "check for default browser" option.

You are fortunate however... I have been unable to get any recent version of Firefox to load under Windows 7, so I'm stuck with version 2. I would love to use Google Chrome, but it doesn't support Roboform, and that is mandatory!

Cheers!

Nigel, thank you for your comment. I have started using Firefox but just for checking page ranks on websites for keywords that I want to use in future articles, using an SEO plugin. I am using it on my netbook which has Windows XP on it and for I need it for right now, it seems to be working fine. However, for searches and other things I do on the internet, I am using Internet Explorer. I still prefer it over Firefox.

Firefox is evil, here is evidence to prove it.

KillFireFox I don't think Firefox is that evil.

The only thing I find annoying about Firefox is the messages I get about "firefox stopped this page from reloading" and such. I get that every time I click something on a page. Why doesn't it just stop it and be quiet about it? LOL
