Why I Hate Flying

Why I Hate Flying, Anywhere, Not What You Think

I am currently flying to California (on US Air) for a conference/training with my telecomunications business. My flight left Jacksonville, FL. at 7:00AM. Let me back up, I am about 40 minutes from Savannah, Ga, yet if you've ever taken a flight out of there it is usually never a direct flight, so, Jacksonville is the next best thing. I am about 2hours from the airport in Jacksonville so my first mistake was setting up a flight at 7AM!!

The flight left about on time, headed to Charlotte NC, there I had an hour and a half layover. Now, on to Phoenix AZ. Now I am in waiting til 2:30PM, currently 1:05PM, til my flight leaves for Long Beach, Ca. This next flight boards at 2:15PM. Another 1 hour 45 minutes and I am there.

On to what I hate about the flight. Not the rough ride (not all of it, just about an hour of the flight), the pilots did an exceptional job! I have my iPod filled, listening to it, reading a book, etc... What I hate is just the sitting in the aircraft nothing to do except listen to what you brought, but you just can't move around, and if you do, it is limited (it is an aircraft)!

So I guess I could have said all that by saying, I am not a flyer. I love to either ride my Harley or drive. Soon though I will be able to do what I want because of my business. I would love to have driven, taking a week to get here, sight seeing etc..

So, being able to do what you want, and not worriying about time nor money is something that I think everyone desires, really, do you want a job where you have to ASK to take a day of, ASK to take a vacation, ask for a pay raise? Those things alone are enough to drive me to build and own my own business.

I will add to this as I do more flying, not that you'd be interested! At some point I'll add some photos of the flight and such...

Flying back home...still hate it

Well, here I am getting ready to take off my shoes, practically strip down, and wait for an hour or more. One more thing to hate! So, it was a great trip, the conference was to say the least GREAT. I actually learned a few things, like (as if I need to tell you) you can only really rely on yourself to get it done. Not that you won't find people like you, people that know (to coin a phrase) "If it is to be, It's up to me".

So, waiting to fly, the flight leaves from the Long Beach, express shop, hair care, and general store, Airport =) @ 9:44AM. Flying to Pheonix AZ and then, oh boy, another hour and a half to two hours. Are you getting the feeling that I'd really rather be riding my harley?

More in a couple hours.. stay tuned!

Spent much time here! Nothing to do, thank goodness for a laptop!

Update, Pheonix Az

Just arrived in Phoenix, Az. Excellent flight, hey maybe you just have to fly a lot to get to like it? NAH. Anyway, I must stop at this point and say that what I actually about flying (not actually hate) is the takeoff and landing. I know that probably seems odd, but it is the exhilaration of the power of takeoff and of landing that is cool. The engine blasts you off into the atmosphere, and within a couple minutes you are FAR above the earth and floating (well not actually floating) but it is still very cool.

When the flight goes well from takeoff to landing I actually am beginning to enjoy this deal, did I just say I was enjoying this? I may have said it before, but I’m saying it again, it is the sitting and twiddling your thumbs that bothers me.

So the next part of this flight I am on is the longest section, not really looking forward to it. If it is a smooth as the last section, I may be changing my story. I still would rather have ridden my Road King all the way, taking in the scenery and such along the way. With my business this is going to be possible. Seeking a second income now may seem the best alternative to get out of either a J.O.B. you don’t like, or a way to keep your house! The economy and the housing problems are here to stay for (in my opinion, from what I have read and been reading) probably a year and a half to maybe two years, could even be longer.

Next leg coming up…

This happened every night at 9:30, thank goodness I was not in bed at that time! It was cool though

Coming back from Vegas, its better to fly out than to drive for four hours with a hangover. But there have been other flights when I wish I said, get me out of here!

Hi jmichaels59 I hate to fly as well, but I get horribly airsick. When necessary, I'll do it, but I feel really bad for the people sitting beside me.

So true; flights would be so much better if you could accomplish more during them. Well, and I'm just deathly afraid of being so high in the air, too :S
