My Boxer dog and Boxer dogs in general are, in my opinion, the best breed of dog as pets and as companions. After all, what other dog breed than Boxer dogs can honestly claim to be as intelligent, funny, and devoted to both individuals and families?

As a medium-sized dog, Boxer dogs are neither big nor small; the perfect size for walking, playing, home life, travel, and even protection if you want to have a bit of support when you're out walking at night. Think about it: who is going to bother you on the street when you're walking a dog that looks as tough as Boxer dogs do?

Of course, Boxer dogs may be historically linked to warrior breeds and have a very strong build, but in truth they're essentially just big sucks that play like puppies all their lives. They certainly do keep you on your toes with all of the jumping up (on both people and furniture), chewing (both people and furniture...oh yes, toys too), and the constant need for attention.

This makes obedience training one of the most important and rewarding parts of your relationship with Boxer dogs. Because they are so smart, they learn their training quickly. However, this intelligence also means that they learn to be stubborn, too. The trick is to "out-stubborn" any Boxer dogs you're trying to obedience train! It's a lot of work, but once you get there, you feel a tremendous sense of achievement.

Even better, Boxer dogs not only get along with the human members of the family, but the other animals, too; dogs and cats alike. Though Boxer dogs aren't so sure of strangers at first - making them great guard dogs -it doesn't take them long to include them among their friends when you show that these people are welcome in your home.

Though Boxer dogs adore children, they are very active players so I always make sure to supervise young children with my Boxer to ensure that nobody gets unintentionally knocked over.

Speaking of being an active player, my Boxer dogs are the best activity partners I've ever had! Not only do they encourage me to get my own exercise with a couple of half hour walks a day (minimum!), but they let me have a good time doing it, too! From walking to jogging, playing Frisbee in the park or fetch with the tennis ball, Boxers are always game for a good play.

Grooming Boxer dogs is a breeze. Even through the wind, mud, and snow, I don't face the problems with my Boxer dogs that I'd face with long-haired pooches. A good brushing a couple of times every week is all they need to keep their coats healthy and shiny - and they don't even shed much!

As an experienced dog owner, I couldn't think of a better companion than my Boxer dogs.

I remember the first time i saw my brothers Boxer Brutus, he was so cute and after being around him and then meeting my sister-in-law's Boxer Ike i decided that one day i would like to own one. Recently I got a female from a friend of mine, she is about 2 years old and she is so sweet. Her name is Joda and she's such a goofy, friendly girl. I love her. She makes an excellent play mate for out 9 month old Pit Bull Bowser. They get a long great and play all the time.
