Why I Love The Gilmore Girls
59The Gilmore Girls Are Great
I am a huge fan of The Gilmore Girls. I only recently discovered the series and am completely hooked. If you want to to see an example of a good mother daughter relationship then look no further than this TV show. The Gilmore Girls is a fantastic American show that is based around the life of a single mother and her daughter who live in the quaint little town of Stars Hollow.
The mother is called Lorelai; her daughter is also called Lorelai but is known as Rory. This mother and daughter team have a wonderful relationship and they are more like best friends. As Lorelai is a single mother, after getting pregnant at 16, she left home and basically fended for herself and her daughter.
We also get to meet Lorelai’s parents. There is a love-hate relationship between this mother, Emily, and her daughter which inevitably causes friction whenever they get together.
The Kooky Characters of The Gilmore Girls
Naturally in a small town like Stars Hollow, there are many colourful characters. These include Miss Patty, the dance instructor and Babette. They know everything that is going on in the town and like to gossip. Sookie is Lorelai’s best friend and partner at The Dragonfly Inn.
Taylor
Doose is like the Town’s Mayor and a real stickler for rules and regulations
and a real busy body. Things have to
been done the right way or not at all.
He is the cause of many conflicts with different members of the town.
The character of Kirk provides the comedy element to the show. Every time we see him, it seems that he has a new job, a weird hobby or some strange encounter with other members of the town.
A lovely man, Luke, the owner of the local diner is a great friend to Lorelai and they have a strange more than friends type of relationship which changes from season to season. He is always there to help her out in any situation and you are just willing them to get it together.
The writing
is great with snappy one liners and hilarious references to other shows and
celebrities. I love it when one show name checks another. There have also been a few cameo appearances by stars during the different seasons.

Thanks for stopping by. I know exactly what you mean. But thank goodness for re-runs and DVDs.
I thought the show had been cancelled. Something about the show must have resonated with you to write about it on hubpages. Good description of the other characters with the mother and daughter on the Gilmore Girls.
Linda - You are right, The Gilmore Girls has been canceled but here in England it can take a while to get some programmes. One of the smaller digital channels purchased it and has been broadcasting the show every weekday, twice a day. Great way to get my Gilmore fix.
Thanks for your feedback. I am trying to improve my writing style so your comment is greatly appreciated.
