Why is their black on black crime? share your thoughts. It saddens me to see crime period and further saddens me to see black on black crime against one another or senseless crimes, or a killing just because, or for some gang initiation that you do not want to be a part off, or just simple walking home and caught up in the mist of "drama." It is truly "sad" my heart goes out to the family who had to watch the video of their son being savagely beaten in such a way. Now their is a life lost and for the individuals involved they just threw their life away, and will spend the rest of their life in prison at least most of their lives, and frankly being able to walk "free"again would be hard to endure if I was the parent of the DEAD boy.

Although, I feel sorry for the youths involved in the killing as well for not having enough self respect, and discipline, and values and morals to be a better person, and will ask "GOD" to have mercy on their souls as well. Just watching the video myself made it hard to watch, and he is not my child, so I can imagine what the family is going through the "anger" the "grief" the pain and the "helplessness." Their will always be that if I only was their, or if he could have taken another route, or if he could have gotten out of class late, their will always be that what if.

Their should be some more out reach and activities for youths to engage in to avoid such truancy's, and violence after school, or perhaps establish more prevention measures to help youths not get caught up into gang warfare, or violence. I know their are some outreach programs however, their is not enough to reach the underrepresented youths of "today" or the oppressed environments that many youths live in that can trigger violence, or perhaps just getting caught up because you live in the neighborhood, and become a target for violence simple trying to get home safely. Chicago's violence is really getting out of hand, and the crime rate is just escalating to an all time "high".

I'm not sure what the answer is for a city of Chicago that has such a high crime rate. However, I must say that a lot of it starts at the top and our educational system, and perhaps with the family environment and the social setting as well, not to mention the the social environment many live in, just making it almost impossible at times to see a better way of life.

For so many of us it is easy to look from the outside when you have not lived in a life of crime from the inside to see things differently, just being a part of a oppressed neighborhood already stigmatizes and individual. We as American's do not no the circumstances for many of individuals up bringing yet the goal should be to ensure that many social networks, and programs are readily available to give every youth and opportunity to live the American dream as we so see it.

Another "Black Soul" to prey for as he meets his maker, another brother who could have been president, or just found his place in society to be a prominent black leader had his life taken away due to a black on black crime that was senseless to begin with. Prayers for the family of the "demised one" and the ones who lost their lives to the prison system.
