Low Fat Doesn't Help You Lose Weight

Low-Fat Food Is A Damn Lie. Walk into any supermarket and you'll see "Low-Fat" foods that are supposed to help with your figure. Well let me suggest for a moment that the only figures that Low Fat foods help are the food-manufacturers' profits.

The bottom-line is that Low Fat foods will still add fat to your bottom (if you're female) or to your belly (for males). Let me explain.

Now technically, when they measure the chemical content, there will be less fat in these Low Fat or "Lo-Fat" foods. But that doesn't help anyone who wants to lose weight. Why is that, you ask?

Well FAT in the food we eat isn't the problem. The problem is the FAT that's piling up on out under-exercised and over-fed bodies. But our excess fat didn't come from eating fatty food.

And this so-called fat free food that's offered to us is almost always full of sugar. Added sugar makes our food taste all the more appetizing, especially to those of us with a sweet tooth.

Some of us have such a sweet tooth that we are bona-fide sugar addicts! Many of us are overeaters too, and some of us are food addicts as well.

We binge or comfort-eat on all these sweet tasty calories, while we at the same time we reassure ourselves that it's quite alright to eat this treat because it's fat-free. Isn't this true?

Well, I've got a weight problem because I consume more calories by eating than I burn off through everyday exercise. And if you're reading this article, you are probably concerned about your weight and health as well.

So you knew that excess food intake turns to fat? I'm pretty sure you would have at least suspected as such.

The plain and simple truth is, it doesn't matter WHAT we eat for our meals. If we're not burning it all off by physical activity, then our bodies are going to store away that excess energy as ugly fat.

Like it or not, we have "super-sized" ourselves by eating too much of the wrong foods.

How does this happen? Well, we all need energy or else we die. Whenever we eat food, out bodies process that food and break it down to simple sugars so it can be absorbed into our blood. This blood sugar is then pumped to the muscles or other organs (for example, the brain) where the sugar energy is used up.

Our liver then takes the spare sugar that hasn't been burned up, and stores it under our skin and in our abdomen as fat. It's the body's emergency energy supply for time of famine, when there is no food at all. And that's when and how your fat gets used up.

But when was the last time you had to live through weeks or months of famine? Consider that for just a moment, please...

I haven't had to live through any famines, and the chances are very high that you haven't had to either. So food is always plentiful and readily available. And we know we're not getting enough exercise in our daily lives as well.

So we keep adding extra pounds just about every day that we're alive now and able to eat anything.

That is a big part of the problem. And this extra un-needed sugar we keep eating that's also the problem.

So if you want to lose weight and keep it off, think of sugar as your enemy because it's even more fattening than eating natural fat. Definitely, Lo-Fat food or Low-Fat food is a damn lie! No doubt about it.

Easy to say, but most folks really don't know how to eat well... or they find it too much trouble, then they get hungry (because they haven't planned ahead). The result is they buy some fast food or something they'd never eat if they were thinking right. I know, I have done it. But now I can avoid it by taking my food for the day with me. As for exercise, the best way to get that is by making part of your daily routine. A healthy habit.

Thanks for the comment, Mike. Read the labels and watch out for that sugar... or dextrose, sucrose, fructose, malt and more than 400 other names of sugar! And flour, be it wheat flour or even other flours or thickeners are bad for overeaters and foodies (like me) as well. They are best avoided if you want to lose weight instead of piling on more unwanted flab.
