Why More Children Should Learn Karate
61Encourage Your Child To Learn Karate
Growing up I was not into many sports. I loved to play outside and I didn’t mind getting dirty – but when it came to being coordinated and trying to follow specific rules I could never manage it. I tried softball for a couple seasons – but found that I was better at cheering my team on than playing the game itself.
There was only one thing that I did that I will always remember and love – karate. It was something that helped me to get in shape and stay active when I was young. That and it was easy to follow. Now-a-days children are begging their parents to learn the art of karate. I encourage you to let them learn!
There are many reasons why karate is an excellent choice for your child
- It is an excellent form of exercise that they will enjoy
- It teaches them patience, balance, and in some ways how to be graceful
- They can learn how to defend themselves
Certain schools that teach karate will not only teach your children how to defend themselves when the situation calls for it – but will teach them not to use what they learn to pick a fight. Your children will also be given the chance to learn something from a new culture.
As I stated earlier it is a great form of exercise. Your child will be challenged to stay on their feet and be active. Also many of the techniquest that they will learn will help them to be more limber and in shape for many years to come.
To make sure that your little one is going to succeed you have to help them practice while they are at home. Maybe you could take classes of your own or have them show you what they need to learn so you can practice with them at the home.
Sparring is a large part of learning karate – which means you need to purchase them special gear that will protect them. This includes the proper head gear, mouthpiece, feet pads, and kids boxing gloves. I know it is hard to see our children fight with others – but don’t worry because under all that padding they won’t feel a think.
Other tools that you could get them that will help them to practice at home are punching bags. The best type of punching bag to have is a kid kick wavemaster. This type is one of the most durable that you will find and they can be easily stored away when not being used.
