Rich people are in a category all their own unless they reach out to those who are less fortunate. Rich people in America are mostly property owners, business owners, and people in the entertainment industry. The public serves as their vehicle to continue to increase their wealth in the light of purchasing land and paying to enjoy the fruits of their entertainment talent. Why don’t rich people talk to poor people? The question brings up the phrase learned in grade school about the haves and the have not. The have not are not in need and the have nots wants the riches of the haves. This materialistic thinking sometimes keep the rich people grounded until something happens to his riches. Just as this movie that Michael Douglas was in where he lost all of his riches and had to scamper to get it back, rich people would find themselves in the same predicament of loss. They would be forced to talk to the poor people because of the location they find themselves in.

One would ponder if a country could exist with all rich people or with all poor people. The latter group of people comes to mind because of the widespread prevalence around the world. South America is emerging as a country who takes care of its poor and probably have the propensity because of the country’s rich resources. As most situations are rarely an all or none situation, most countries have a small population of rich people and a larger population of poor people. In America, the population of rich people only accounts for about 5% of the 302 million people who populates the country. Why is that the case? Are the poor people scrambling to get what that small group of "haves" have either amassed or been born in? Most poor people are complacent where they are and have a "that’s the way it is attitude." A famous politician said that you have to play the hand the you are dealt. Most people choose to play the hand in a fantasy world of make believe trying to emulate the behavior of the rich. But unless there is a major restructuring of "that is just the way it is" syndrome, rich people will continue not to talk to poor people.
