Why Seinfeld Is The Greatest Sitcom Of All Time
67
Seinfeld is a show about nothing and yet continues to be interesting . Even if it has ended years ago , people still watch it because this is the best - written sitcom in the history of comedy television .
Its main writers , Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld manage to turn everyday details into brilliant bits of comedy . Creators of so many memorable hilarious phrases , they made the entire world laugh . Humor comes naturally from events and circumstances which the characters encounter in one way or another .
Each performer adds something special to the mix . May seem strange at times , but in many situations you can identify with the characters . Feeling comfortable , the main stars look real and have incredible chemistry on the screen because their act doesn't involve cheap sentimentalism or some fake idealistical behaviour .
New York City is the playground of the show and represents another proof of authenticity . Seinfeld's comedy is based on realism and no other show could top that .
Some of the best episodes are : The Contest , The Soup Nazi , The Little Jerry , The Calzone , The Finale and many more .The DVD collection is fun to watch and contains lots of hilarious comments from the stars . Believe me , you'll get your money's worth . No wonder why this show received so many awards and lasted 9 seasons with 180 episodes .
Jerry Seinfeld is playing himself and often he would perform his usual stand up routine at the beginning and sometimes the end of the show , where he analizes the world with his sarcastic and cinical sense of humor .
At times he is narcissistic , selfish and shameless . For example , he breaks up with his girlfriend because he accidentally dropped her tooth brush in the toilet and didn't have the courage to tell her before she uses it .
Self-sufficient and content with the way things work out , one time he was blamed that his life is perfect . His answer was : "I never had a good pickle" . Sometimes he acts like a baby to whom things cannot be refused .
George's character is beyond explanation . Shallow , insensitive , acting like a coward and always trying to fool women to sleep with him , you can't but fall in love with the way he is reasoning everything .
A terrible funny episode was when his mom caught him masturbating in the bathroom . Seeing him like that she was about to fall , having a heart attack . At that moment , our hero , George didn't know what to do : to reach for his pants or to catch his mother from falling . He choose the first option because it seemed ridiculous to hold on to his mother with his pants down .
There's no doubt in my mind that George ( Jason Alexander ) is the funniest performer on this show .
Elaine ( Julia Louis Dreyfuss ) is attractive , intelligent , spontaneous , impulsive , neurotic and self-centered when it comes to her romantic flings . She always seem to mishandle her womanly problems .
I love the scene when she went along with the guys and placed a bet on who's going to last longer without having sex . Of course Kramer was the first one out of the contest . Usually women are kept out of this kind of deals but the boys accepted her like this was the most common thing .
Elaine get along great with man and still manages to keep her feminity . Many women can identify with her realistical way of being .
Cosmo Kramer ( MIchael Richards ) is probably one of the most creative and unique characters ever brought on television .Pioneer of physical comedy , he seems to get his unmeasurable energy from a different universe than everyone else .
He can be described as the eccentric , goofy neighbor , with his unforgetable door entrances and weird thinking . Never had a legitimate job , his source of income is just as obscure and misterious as he is .
The way he is dressing up , his hair style , his off the wall sense of humor , everything about Kramer is hilarious and contagious .
Other memorable characters are : Newman , The Soup Nazi , Peterman , George's parents , Jerry's parents , etc.
People might have different opinions but to me Seinfeld is the most incredible , brilliant , hilarious show on television .
