In Today's market job seeking seems hard than ever. However it is important to keep the focus on basic job search skills. Those skills are the ones the mean the difference between getting hired now or having to continue the search. Today let's look at the Resume. These basic resume writing tips are designed to land you a job.

All resumes show a picture of you. So what is it that you want that picture to say? Well you want it say that you are careful and competent. To accomplish this you want to make sure your resume is error free. It should be typed, never handwritten.

You want it show that you have the skills that the employer is seeking. So skills and abilities should be directed to the position. Focusing on skills and abilities is very important because in a tight economy human resource personnel are under heavy pressure to find people who can produce the desired results.

You want to demonstrate that you are good communicate by making sure you resume is easy to follow. Stick with the basics in terms of format. If you have limited experience or gaps in employment you want to go with the Functional style of resume. This is are resume that groups accomplishments. Focuses heavily on skills and abilities while often omitting employers and job titles.

If you have more work experience you may want to go with the Chronological style. This resume list the work experience and describes the task done by company. The education and experiences are listed with the last job first going backwards in time with the other positions held.

Focus is one of the most important points. Show the employer that you have a clear understanding of what you can offer them, by focusing how your experience relates to the job position being offered.
