Why Should I Stop Smoking?

For My Health

Smoking is bad for me, period. I know that in my heart of hearts. I really do. But the urge to smoke and the need for nicotine is an incredibly hard habit to break, no matter how hard I try. I want to break free from this demon, but it wraps its slimy paws around my soul and I end up lighting up once again. Please help me stop smoking. I should stop smoking for my health. Smoking is hard on my lungs, obviously, but it works horrible tricks on every system in my body. My heart has to work harder to pump precious blood through my system as smoking makes my vessels constrict and die off. This takes my blood pressure sky high, putting me at further risk of heart attack and stroke. Smoking can lead to higher incidence of acid reflux, which is not a load of fun either.

For My Looks

I should stop smoking for my looks. I am not a vain person by any stretch, but I really do not want yellow teeth and nails, or sallow, wrinkled skin. My hair will become dull. I will get lines around my eyes from squinting and furrows around my lips from holding the cigarette. My lips will thin and become pale as the blood flow slows. Isn't that what we all die for girls? Dull, bloodless, thin lips? No, but we will die with it.

For My Friends

I should stop smoking for the sake of my friends. My pals do not smoke, so to spend time with me, they either have to subject themselves to second-hand smoke or deal with me and my nicotine withdrawal symptoms. My breath will be repugnant even to the most loyal of my buddies, even if I chew a wad of gum the size of a VW Beetle in my mouth. My friends will secretly hate coming to my home because of the stale odor of cigarettes that clings to every surface, including my clothing. They look at me like a ticking time bomb and discuss my possible health issues behind my back. I should stop smoking so my friends can stop worrying about me.

For The Love Of My Life

I should quit smoking for my lover. My smoking has slowed blood-flow throughout my body, so I always have cold hands and feet which is a nasty surprise in bed; but it's not the worst issue smoking has brought into our bedroom. My poor circulatory effort has led to lessened sexual arousal and poor performance. Without the sensation of arousal, my body does not manufacture its natural lubrication. I really love that man, and I want to please him, but as long as I am smoking, I do not know that I can. I should stop smoking for the love of my life.

For My Childrens' Children

I should stop smoking for my children and other family members. They all would like me to be around for a long time -- they want me to be able to run and play with them without getting out of breath or without being poorly all of the time. They will want me to watch their own children be born and grow up. No one wants to see me get sick and die way before my time. I should quit smoking for my children, my sister and my other family members. But most of all, I should stop smoking for myself. I want to stop panting when I move around. I want to be happy and healthy for a longer time than I would be if I continue smoking.

My Choice

I have the choice. I can allow cigarettes to steal years from my lover and my children, or I can take those years back. I think I will just stop smoking. For them and for me.
