The Forgotten Key To The Law Of Attraction

Yes, millions of people have seen the Secret. Maybe even some of those people have read "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill or "The Power Of Intention" by Wayne Dyer or other books dedicated to using mind over matter. But if, like millions of others, you are not getting in your life the things you are visualising, what went wrong? I will tell you, but first, let's get everyone up to speed.

The movie "The Secret" focused on a universal law called the "Law Of Attraction". What the law of attraction means is that you create in your life the things that you think about most - for example if you visualise in your mind yourself as a brilliant person, with a spouse that loves you, and a job you enjoy, it wouldn't be too long before it materialised into your life. The idea is that we are all made of the same energy (at a sub-atomic level), and that like energy attracts like energy.

But somewhere along the way, people got lost. They weren't getting all these wonderful things they were visualising. And then, after a few disappointing results in their life, they gave up. They stopped searching for the love, for the health and wealth in their lives. They went back to the daily grind.

Why The Law Of Attraction Isn't Working

If this happened to you, I can tell you why. It is probably one of the most crucial steps left out of the law of attraction, but outlined perfectly in Dr Deepak Chopra's book, "The 7 Spiritual Laws Of Success". In Deepak Chopra's book, the very first law is called the "Law Of Pure Potentiality". Basically, this means that in order to materialise the things we want, we have to be in tune - and to be in tune we must have a "quiet" mind.

"What do you mean, have a quiet mind?" you might ask. "My mind is always quiet!". On the contrary - just stop for a moment. Notice that little voice starting to think in your mind - "This quiet mind stuff is baloney...oh wait that was actually the voice...I wonder what that noise outside was...I sure am hungry, I wonder what's for dinner... oh no, I forgot to turn the stove off!..." and so on it goes.

Deepak Chopra's first law, the law of Pure Potentiality says "Imagine throwing a little stone into a still pond and watching it ripple. That's what you do when you go into silence and introduce your intention. Even the faintest intention ripples across the field of universal consciousness that connects your desire with everything else. This field can orchestrate an infinity of details for you. But if your mind is like a turbulent ocean, you could throw the Empire State Building into it and you wouldn't notice a thing."

The Empire State Building folks. And it wouldn't do a darn thing unless your mind is still like a pond. Check out this video by Dr Deepak Chopra himself on Spirit and Healing, and after it I will show you three ways you can quiet your mind, and start getting better results from your visualisations.

So you are ready to start getting better results in your life. You've got your vision board all ready with pictures of love, pictures of happiness and happy people, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Now how do you get a quiet mind to help it all along? Here are three ways:

Three Ways To Getting A Quiet Mind

1: Counting your breath. Basically to start getting a quiet mind, set aside 20 minutes a day (at least!) - stay up 20 mins later and do it if you have to. Find a quiet and comfortable spot in your house, sit down on a cushion cross legged, and put one hand over the other in your lap. Then, count your breath - breathing in and out - until you get to 10, then start over at one again. Focus completely on your breathing. If you forget where you are up to, start over. If your mind becomes noisy again, start over. Do this 20 minutes a day you will notice huge rewards - more calm, more happiness, less stress.

2: You can also use the same posture as above, sitting in a quiet spot, but this time close your eyes and open your hearing to the furthest sounds you can hear. Really concentrate on sounds that are far away. This is called your peripheral hearing (similar to your peripheral vision), and focusing on this for 20 minutes a day also has the effect of calming you, and increasing your levels happiness.

3: Lastly, you can sit in a quiet spot, as above, but this time simply become aware of all the sensations in the body - your swallowing, your heart beat, the hot or cold of your skin, your blinking. You can follow your saliva as it goes all the way down into your stomach, or you can follow the breath as it comes in your nose and fills your lungs. You can even name the sensations as they come up - "tickle, tickle - heat, heat - beating, beating". Give them your complete attention.

You can even sit and focus on a script or sermon if you are devoted to a religion in any way - they can be a great way to quiet and focus the mind.

There are many other ways to quiet the mind - meditating is a life tool that will give you so much more strength in life, let alone help the law of attraction at work. You can also find more ways in Paul Wilson's excellent book "The Quiet". You deserve to be happy, so take time for yourself. Give your dreams the fuel they deserve! Tomorrow is a new day, and with focus, love and a quiet mind you can take it and squeeze the last drop of juice out of it, collapsing exhausted at the end of the day knowing you are one step closer to your dream life. You can do it!
