I'm not one of those women who pretend that money isn't attractive. Of course it is, and of course many women are attracted to men who have it -- particularly if they've got lots of it. It may surprise you, however, to learn that not all women who find money attractive are gold diggers. Ok, ok, I know what you're thinking, and I don't blame you. But if you'll read on, you'll learn the truth about why women like rich men. In some cases the reasons aren't so flattering, but others are simply basic biology.

1. She's a gold digger.

Let's just get this one out of the way first, shall we? I know that most men (and some women) will insist that this is the only reason women seek out men with wealth, so I'll let you have it. I've met more than a few gold diggers and I'm not denying their existence at all. But there are other reasons women like men with money.

2. Money signifies power.

I like strong men and men with money tend to me men with powerful jobs. This is attractive to women on so many levels that I won't even try to get into it right now as it would take too long. But if I had to choose my number one reason women like rich men, this would be it. Most women are drawn to strength, and many rich men have it in great abundance.

3. Wealth indicates success.

Women like men who've achieved something. It shows that you had goals. It shows that you had a plan and that were clever or skilled enough to see that plan realized. If a woman is driven to do something in life, she wants to know that her man is the same and wealth is often an indication of this.

4. Some women don't want to outperform their man.

Just as some men have issues with dating women who earn more than they do, so do some women have the exact same issue. Women often like men who are more successful than they are because this is the balance which feels most natural for them. And that's nothing to do with feminism, so femnazis had best not give me snark about it.

5. Rich men are security personified.

Granted, there are plenty of rich men who are total losers and couldn't be further from secure. But the idea of being with a rich man symbolizes great security for some women, particularly if they come from underprivileged backgrounds. This isn't necessarily a gold digger, but rather a woman who just wants to feel safe and secure financially, but doesn't know how to achieve this on her own.
