Don't get AIDS
41I could be wrong (and, please, correct me if I am...), but why are there no reports all over the news of poor European countries that are dying of AIDS?
Everytime I hear of an AIDS epidemic, it's always in Africa. Never Asia or Europe or Australia even...Only Africa...
There are a lot of rumors about AIDS. I think the most accepted (i.e. respected and not considered conspiratorial) theory is that it started in the gay community in the 60's.
If this is so, then how did it get to Africa?
Now, I'm all for science and curing diseases and everything, and I am no conspiracy theorist, but I just find it strange that Africans and African-Americans (according to statistics) seem to be the main ones afflicted with this disease and as a result, are the main group (it seems) targeted for these AIDS awareness campaigns.
Perhaps, we as a population should feel fortunate to have so many caring individuals contributing and paying attention to eradicating this seemingly overwhelming epidemic...but far be it from me to take attention away from any Asians, Europeans or Australians who may also need the help.
Dear Readers,
If you know of any other demographics overwhelmingly afflicted with AIDS, please leave comments with websites directing others to where they can offer support and contribute funds to those in need.
Thank you.

Wow what an eye opener.
AIDS is not only affecting Africans but also the fifth leading cause of death among persons between ages 25 and 44 in the United States.
I had placed a hyperlink in my first comment. It seems to have vanished.
Hi! Thanks for the add. :-) You are right to note that it seems that African-Americans are usually the target of AIDS campaign, but hey, its not only limited to African-American heritage, in fact even in asia AIDS has been spreading already, only that I believe only few studies are made to gather the statistics compared in the States and Africa. Hmmm... bottom point is, all people without discrimination must be aware that AIDS can infect everyone equally, if only all of us would learn how to practice safe disease prevention strategies. Nurses like me should be fired up for health teachings! :-) May God help us all!
AIDS is prevailent everywhere; but in real high numbers in black areas or nations and increasing numbers amoung uninformed people.
"The origin of HIV-1 has been traced. Chimpanzees in several isolated communities in southern Cameroon (located in Africa near Nigeria) carried a simian virus called SIVcpz. This virus was likely passed blood borne to human hunters. The virus is suspected to have spread along the Congo River into Zaire where the earliest traceable documentation of the HIV-1 virus. The sample is from 1959."
(This is from my hub, "The Challenge of HIV-1 Subtype Diversity") HIV-1 is the most common virus causing AIDS and its recombinant forms make a cure elusive to our current medical technology.
It sounds like commenters are making this hub into a "racial" thing. I am here to talk about its origin. I do not pay attention to the news closley enough to notice any discriminative reports on AIDS across the world. I agree with MightyOne in that "increasing numbers [of AIDS cases arise] among uninformed people", regardless of race, origin or demographic.
AIDS is spread around the world, but must have a concentration level in Africa that is disproportionally high. If we support those who work together in Africa to find solutions, then this will help people in Europe and elsewhere. I have posted some information about a homeopath doing healing work in Africa with AIDS patients. http://hubpages.com/_7ncpnxogpz16/hub/Haiku-The-Ni

Here are some possibilities to consider.
In “first world countries”, industrialized nations that is, treatment for HIV is much more readily available and the onset of AIDS is therefore significantly delayed. The general living standards probably play a role as well. Since America and other free market nations see fit to keep “third world nations” in an impoverished state, which makes them more easily exploited, conditions conducive to the spread of HIV, AIDS are much more prevalent.
I have recently stumbled upon some research which seems to indicate that much of what we have been led to believe about HIV is wildly exaggerated and has been used a just one more “wedge issue” to keep people afraid and off balance in the US.
If you can struggle through this, I think you will find it of extreme interest. Here are a couple of excerpts.
“these same data could have been interpreted as indicating that HIV is a mild virus, and difficult to transmit” “Whereas AIDS in the industrialized countries almost exclusively confines itself to a tiny percentage of homosexuals, drug injectors, and transfusion patients, AIDS afflicts the same general African population that faces such ancient scourges as malaria, schistosomiasis, and sleeping sickness (trypanosomiasis).”Have a look at the data. It creates a compelling case for consideration. Aids as a propaganda tool to be used against black and gay Americans.
