Why are you proud to be a FilipinoFilipina?
65How to be proud of your own culture will differ in your own experience in life. If you considered your experiences as bad or shameful like being poor or live in a squatter area this would be embarrassing for some women. I myself, a Filipino and I will never feel ashamed of being an Asian Filipina. There are instances in our lives that we want to hide from other cultures like the type of foods we eat or other things you are ashamed about. The kind of jobs we do and other things that we felt ashamed to accept.
In my own experienced of being a Filipino, I won't be embarrassed with it because I was raised in a good way though struggling to live everyday. But if you live in something shameful or dirty thing like that, I am not sure how can you be proud of that. It's not really our country what we ashamed about but of what we behave in general. You can live anywhere but if your behavior is not acceptable then you cannot be proud of yourself or even to accept your own mistakes.
I am proud of my own culture because I grew up in a descent way and keep some self discipline to myself. I have a bit of good manners to others and most especially I respect anyone. I never involved in any illegal activities regardless of how difficult my life was. I am not a perfect person but I am sure that I am a law abiding citizen.
If I have difficulty in speaking good English, I do not think that it's enough reason to be ashamed off in your own culture. Probably for some individuals, but for me, I am still proud because at least I tried to speak though it's not perfect. I am proud because I did not do anything that can harm to other fellows or human being. I have a heart for someone who needed help in any circumstances. I knew many fellows who eat something disturbing but why would I feel ashamed about it? That's how they find a living and enjoy their way of eating. Whatever you do in life, I will still be proud of you as a Filipinos.
It's your manners counts and the way you treat others!!

I've not yet been to the Philippines, but I'm VERY glad so many of your people are working with me in the Middle East. You are a great people!
