Building your own lead capture page:

You need to decide if not having your own lead capture page is helping you or hurting you. By focusing your efforts on using someone else's lead capture page you may be losing out on building your own opt in emailing list. If you are a good affiliate marketer this may not be a huge concern for you. However, if you are starting out and building web content to attract people to an affiliate lead capture page, you may be making sales, but who is really building an emailing list?

Take a closer look at your own goal.

Is your goal to be a good affiliate marketer? Or to generate your own list of prospects? Or perhaps a bit of both? Being clear on your goal and knowing where to put your energy is the first step.

If you are starting out and leading people, who find your web content, to someone else's lead capture page, then you may make a sale, but the contact name actually goes to the affiliate marketer's list.

Is that your goal?

A good affiliate marketer is more likely to build their own list first and then send affiliate links to their list of contacts.

By focusing on leading people to someone else's lead capture page there is a solution that is a win/win for you and the person whose product/service you are promoting.

What about building your own lead capture page to promote the product or service, collect the names and emails, build a relationship with your list of prospects and redirect them so that you are building your list AND they still receive the free information, product or service from your affiliate link.

That way you have made contact with them, you can build a relationship, and you will be on your way to generating a list and the affiliate link you promoted also has made a sale and a new contact.

Remember to keep your goal in mind and have a clear picture of what you are building.
