Bamboo clothing has many benefits, it possesses benefits for the wearer, the environment and ethical benefits. This article takes a look at these benefits and provides a brief introduction to what is bamboo clothing.

What is bambbo clothing?

Bamboo clothing is made from cloth that is produced by spinning bamboo pulp. This makes a very fine and soft yarn. Sometimes it is blended with cotton or a little lycra to attain different benefits.

Comfort-bamboo is a very soft fiber next to the skin, more so then cotton. It has a texture somewhere between silk and cashmere.

Antibacterial-bamboo fabric contains an anti-microbial element known as kun that prohibits the growth of bacteria. This makes it several times more anti bacterial then cotton.

Anti static properties-bamboo does not produce static the way some fabrics can.

Less odor-you can wear bamboo garments for more time then synthetics before you notice odor. 

Moisture absorbent-bamboo keeps skin dry because it can absorb many times it's weight in water.  

Cost-bamboo fabric is not as costly as silk, organic cotton or cashmere.

Chemical free-bamboo is great for anyone sensitive, because it doesn;t utilize chemicals in it's production. 

In addition it can usually be simply machine washed and line dried.   

Benefits to the environment

Bamboo grows quickly, doesn't require pesticides, or excessive amounts of water. This makes it a sustainable natural resource. Bamboo clothing is typically safe to bury at it's end of life.

Ethical benefits

Many of the brands that offer bamboo clothing are fair trade certified brands. In addition you can rest assured that those involved in production don't have to become involved with lots of chemicals since it isn't required to produce.

You will find bamboo clothing for men, women and children and it is availabe from casual attire, right through to uniforms.
