Some are really intentional to get the maximum out of their ad exposure. As for shows, it depends on what ad sponsors also want as they pay for premium rates. Television companies have prime time slots, know those times have more viewers and charge much higher advertising rates. Most of the prime time slots are during the hours of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Those are the times when televiewers tend to focus attention on TV while preparation of food, while eating and after the meals.

There are some conscientious television stations though that they forewarn viewers of possible undesirable graphics to be shown or has something gross in its nature. This gives time for viewers to change channel or switch off the TV for awhile. But, most of the time we don't do so because we are curious on what or how it will be. We only complain about it when it really is disgusting. That's how some people are when their curiosity has been aroused.

It's all about getting attention...in a weird way, humans love disgusting things. It's like the lookie-loos who stop traffic to see a bad car wreck. Advertisers want to get your attention....they use sex, lust and disgust to the max!

Sex, lust and disgust... very true! I just hate watching commercials with the little mucus man and toe fungus and stuff!

Thanks for your comments! That's true anything for gains, profits and money nowadays is the thing for business. But true enough, it is more the marketing people of these, are those who do not care. Then next to blame is advertising competition. Another to blame would be the productivity span of the people involved. Lastly, blame the present economic situation.

I agree completely and I can pretty much handle seeing anything. I think the most disturbing commmercials are the toothpaste and denture commercials. Seeing filthy teeth while I'm eating is not appetizing, and although a very effective commercial (I hope), that new commercial with the man speaking out of a hole in his neck due to throat cancer from cigarette smoking is a very disturbing sight during dinner, which comes with no disclaimer.

But the news is always the worst thing to see during dinner. Ugh! Talk about disgusting.

Cool subject!

That's how they are. They know that disgusting ads at the wrong time are well remembered. Thanks for your thoughts here ChopSkull!
