Why do females who live together or hang out a lot have in-sync periods.

I have pondered on this point many times through the years. And in all those years of experience with many different women friends, with only some did I ever get "in sync" with on monthly menses. They were the ones that I felt I had the most in common with, even if I didn't spend as much time around them as I did with others. So, it wasn't just a physical connection that created the getting in sync.

I believe because we are beings of spiritual, mental, emotional and physical aspects, we connect at all levels to some degree, but less in some aspects than others. It's hard to give specifics, because we are all so unique, in who we are, energy-wise.

Our electromagnetic energy field (our aura) is a field of interpenetrating energies of the four above-mentioned aspects that are intended to be in co-ordination with our energy centers (our chakras), to ultimately promote the greatest flow of energy (chi) through our meridians and the above four integrated "bodies" of energy, one of which is the physical body.

As I look at the entire system of being in women (above mentioned), the menses is a form of cleansing through the physical body for all the other bodies, as well, not just a cleansing of an unused uterine lining. I am talking about cleansing of accumulated karma, personal and planetary. Our energy fields interact with those of others and of the planet as an environment and with other living species of nature... Geez, I realize I've started down a path of defining that will take more time than I want to spend writing...

So...in short...what I really want to sum up and say is that as women we support and help each other in dealing with these accumulated energies. Some women need an individual's support at different times than others might need, and for different reasons. So the Universe as the Infinite Mind of God (that knows it all) decides, sometimes without our conscious awareness, what is needed for a particular individual in connection with two or more individuals, to help provide the impetus for forward movement on the path of life. And some of us bleed together, and some of us don't.

OK, so I have to give an example of how these interpenetrating energy fields work out in life. I have a client, that after the first year became a friend, but not in the sense that we spent more time together outside of our business relationship. We just became more "deeply" spiritually involved. Her extended family members began to die at a phenomenal rate per year. This lasted for a five year span...which left her even more alone in the world than she had already felt.

Because of my focus on healing techniques that work deeply with the soul's pains and memories, all we had to do was have intermittent personal talk for the few hours that we were together doing our business work each every other week. My focus of loving concern for her, and my prayers for her (when we weren't together) had us sharing menses time. I might add that I was in my forties and she in her fifties in this five year span of time.

She went through much psychological trauma and career change while this was going on, but she came out the "other side" of the darkness and today is leading a very productive life...still having her menses being close to sixty years young.

Of course, I have gone and am still going through my "stuff" since, and at fifty still having my menses as well. I guess this is all a form of mid-life change "stuff". My perceptions on what mid-life is all about is a whole other story!

My daughters and I have had menses together, from time to time, even though we live hundreds of miles apart, but we do talk on the phone often a majority of the time...but mainly, we are just so spiritually connected. It is way cool to be so close.

Anyway, just my experiences, still a study in progress! The answers are infinite because we are all unique individuals. But we get a sense of our "realm" and the people involved in it.

That's my story for the moment! Sorry, if it's clear as mud!

In case you are in need- you can find some yoga for menses times at yogacircle.com (the pictures did not come out, I will keep trying to figure how to get them on this hub)

Very interesting. I've heard of studies that have found no consistent pattern of this happening, but whatever those scientists were studying, it wasn't the women I know! My mom, sister, and I were within days of each other for most of my teenage years, and when I was in college I lived on an all-girls floor every year. At the start of the year, the trashcans would have feminine products steadily throughout the month; by the end, inariably, there would be a few here and there from girls on the Pill and then one week WHAM. All of the rest of us would go at once. I always felt kind of sorry for our male janitor when that week came around. :)

I used to go to boarding school, and at the beginning of the year everybody's cycle was different, but gradually their days would get closer and closer till they matched. For some weird reason, I was never part of this menstruation sorority. Mine always came quite independently, and I have never to this day understood what that was all about.
