Math is important in our daily lives because it teaches us the following critical skills we need as adults:

1.) How to solve problems.

2.) How to form logical arguments and prove things to other people.

As a Math tutor, I get this question a lot from MIddle School children.

I find today that kids expect things to come to them instantly like movies and video games and technology.

Due to the fast pace of life, I see the parents don't spend proper time teaching problem-solving skills to their children and step in too much to solve the problems for them of don't mentor them on how to solve problems.

Problem-solving skills are not built in a day. They take time and effort and discipline to develop just like building a muscle. Kids today need to learn that Math is very much like life. You have to continually learn, develop, grow and challenge yourself and learn to figure things out on your own, learn when to ask for help instead of spending 5 seconds looking at a problem and saying, "I don't get it." and hoping someone will step in and solve it for them.

Hope this helps.
