Weight Loss, Why So Expensive

Weight loss is an expensive personal goal because of the propensity of the program provider to make capital.  Weight loss programs is as viable a business as the brokers and stock traders on Wall Street.  Try Googling weight loss programs and you will find millions of finds to your inquiries.  The industry is recession proof because some people have to go on these weight loss programs for health reasons.

Oprah had three guests on her show who used three different weight loss systems to lose weight.  None of these weight loss methods were free.  The first guest that Oprah had on was the Valerie Bertinelli who lost a considerable amount of weight on the Jenny Craig Program.  Valarie sweared by this program and the audience was a little dissapointed however when she said that  it took her a whole year to lose the weight.  For the first time in thirty years Valarie was photographed in a bikini and her abs were an impressive advertisement for Jenny Craig. Of course, cost was not  factor for Valerie to use the Jenny Craig method of weight loss because of her social status in show business.

Another prominent social status celebrity on the  same Oprah show was Marie Osmond.  The audience was more amazed at Marie having had eight children than the weight loss.  Marie had been on Dancing with the Stars and was a bit overweight but managed to lose about 47  lbs with the NutriSystem Program of weight loss.  Of course again, cost was not a factor as Marie Osmond is part of a famous family of entertainers and money was not an obstacle.  Marie lost the weight in about four months which sounded doable to the audience as opposed to the Jenny Craig program.

The last celebrity on the Oprah Show who of course did not have a problem with the expensive procedure of weight loss with the gastric bypass was Star Jones.  Star Jones seemed quite small in comparison to her boldness when she was much bigger.  Star Jones expressed sadness at the comments from the tabloids and the lonliness of being overweight with men only being friends instead of lovers.  Star Jones said that her life changed once she lost the weight and now feels better about herself.  Star Jones weight loss was expensive emotionally as well because she had to attend counselling services to adjust to her new weight.  Star Jones surgery shedded about 165 pounds from her frame and she pointed into the Oprah TV audience saying that she had lost an entire person.

The three weight loss systems mentioned:  Jenny Craig, NutriSystem and Gastric Bypass are all expensive programs and procedures to lose weight.  The ordinary American best bet is to count the calories and do a little more walking and exercising.  Weight loss in America is expensive because it is big business.  As long as there is a market of overweight people seeking to lose weight, these programs do not appear to be leaving the market place.
