Selling is Sharing: True or False?

When you were sponsored into your MLM company were you told to go out and share your product/service with your friends and family? How well did you do? More importantly, how did you feel? Did you truly feel like you were sharing? Did you feel the same as when you shared information about a good movie, book, or restaurant you enjoyed? Quite likely your upline told you it is the same as sharing information on a good movie or restaurant. In your 'gut' you knew it was not the same and you were absolutely RIGHT!

It is not the same.

Sharing information on a good book is spontaneous because it usually comes up naturally in a conversation. As you share your experience about a good restaurant or book you have not rehearsed what you plan to say. Also, you have no personal attachment to whether people agree or accept your opinion. And you are not receiving any benefit or payment for sharing.

Selling, on the other hand, is something that requires planning. For example, how are you going to steer a conversation around to talking about your product or service? And how are you going to sound? Quite often you are not very comfortable, you don't feel natural, and the result is your voice sounds different. You are no longer an unbiased third party.

The entire flow and dynamics of the conversation has changed.

Selling, is a skill. A good salesperson develops relationships with people in order to know them better and know if what they have for sale fills a need for the person buying. A salesperson goes way beyond friends and family and attracts people who are looking for what they have to offer.

Sharing is selling is one of seven great lies. To read more about the lies of network marketing, take a look at this free 35 page report. Keep your dreams and goals alive by learning all that you can learn.
