Money for nothing

Any govt looking to cut the waste and abuse in govt spending need look no further than the public school system. we always see stories about contracts and cost over runs for building maintenance, but how about something more fundamental. such as staffing. In NYC public school system there are 700 teachers who for one reason or another are not allowed in the classroom anymore. they continue to receive full pay and benefits, and sit around all day in an administration building doing nothing or whatever they want to occupy their time. the charges on these teachers run the gamut from insubordination to sexual misconduct, and everything in between. Because of the strength of the teachers union, it is almost impossible to fire these people, even though they no longer provide any service to the system. It is said it takles years for a teachers case to be heard and decided on. That is a total waste of school funds. If they must be kept on the payroll, give them a broom and a mop and put them to work. Maybe they'll stay, maybe they'll leave. either way, they are useless baggage. Our taxes should not have to continually rise to pay for things like this. If a crime is suspected of in the school system it should be turned over to the police and let them find out who's guilty and who's not. guaranted it would not take years to get rid of the garbage. And the innocent would be better served.
