Why switch to hubpages (hubpages vs triond helium or blogger)

It's better to focus on something you know have probability for growth and so bringing more visitors. For example last month I made 38.5$. This month I made 60$ (59$ to be exact from several accounts not just the one you're reading, though not all from hubpages but many from there - in fact one of the reason is I moved some niche posts elsewhere but mostly the increase in earnings is due to hubpages growth). That's 50% growth of my earnings and to tell the truth I didn't even make effort to make new posts in December: truly great passive income this month at least. You can follow my earnings day by day since January.

I don't use hubpages for niche where I know I really dominate so that even with low traffic I get money. I confess that I would do much more if my hubs were not of low quality unlike some great hubpagers here. When I will have time I may upgrade the content to be better but not before months as I have other more lucrative projects but the learning process at blogging at hubpages will also serve for these later projects.

If I had began my experience on blogger for example, I'm pretty sure I would have given up after a few weeks because there's little chance you would get enough traffic on your own. Same for triond I suppose: a few dollars is really not worth, a few dozen dollars with potential growth better motivates me.

Hubpages vs Triond

As I read their FAQ they say 50% of "NET" revenue which means not 50% of total adsense revenue (they deduct charges you don't control).

In hubpages you put your own adsense ID so it's totally transparent. Of course hubpages could cheat by not putting your adsense ID 60% of the time but that you could control too since you can lookup the page source code and read the adsense code.

So I would switch to hubpages if I were you.

Last but not least the hubpages platform is much more sophisticated than triond.

Hubpages vs Helium

I don't use Helium personally but this is the testimony of Marisa:

"I'm on Helium, which uses an undisclosed method of calculating income but it is more to do with views than clicks. There, it's taken me a year to make $50 with 170 articles. Here, I've already earned $14 in three months with a fraction of that number (and of course, they haven't all been there for three months).

There's also the potential for additional earnings through eBay and Amazon where you have direct control over what they advertise - though the sales are infrequent, they're worth it when they happen.

Personally, I love HubPages because I enjoy the extra dimension of being able to determine the layout, enhance the article with photos etc. "

You can also read Marisa's article on Helium:Helium.com - Writing for Fun or Writing for Money?

Hubpages vs Blogger

Blogger is the best well known blogging platform from Google. Contrary to Hubpagers, you should rather be experienced to create and optimize your content with Blogger.

So when would it be advantageous to switch to Blogger ? When you are no more a newbie and you want to be able to customize your own template. With Hubpages you cannot put an html or javascript snippet which is very annoying if you want to do affiliates marketing for example.

Besides from that, with Blogger you get 100% of adsense revenue instead of 60%. Nevertheless without seo experience you will probably get null traffic so it's better to stay on hubpages if you're a total newbie. If you're not any more or if you are sure to dominate a niche, then why not ? That's what I have done with one of my favorite topic.

Cool article. Thanks for the info on Helium - I was wondering about joining there but it seems that HP is the way forward.

I guess since this article is submitted for HubPages, you would write that Hubpages is better. Don't you guys think that this opinion is slightly biased?

Hmmm, I don't think you can really compare Hubpages to blogger. Hubpages is about making single pages that aren't necessarily related, they can be but they don't have to be. In a blog, you usually are talking about related topics over and over.

Though I do agree with the Triond and Helium ones, it is hard to make money there unless you luck out (though there is the helium reward a thon right now so that's pretty cool).

However what about Squidoo and Associated Content? Squidoo is easier if you want to sell affiliate products because they have html and let's face it, it's easier to sell stuff when you have html. Associated Content also has a large reader base so you can actually earn even with no promotion (though it's best that you do promote).

Well let's just agree that not everybody is meant for the same styles of online writing. :)

Come on guys, 14$ is nothing when you are willing to make money online, I suppose bringing more traffic, marketing your hubs, using social networks and all this stuff will help you make some couple hudred of dollars every month. I might use hubpages as a tool for my article marketing strategies. It`s a great place to share content and build back links to your webiste.

Hi,

I don't know whether you continue to be at Helium or not. But I became a member in Helium some 8 months back and have posted some 120 articles there. I agree with you that penny earning from Helium is quite dismal. But they are periodically coming out with special promotions in which they pay 1 to 3 dollars per article.

Ever since I joined Helium, I have earned about 160$ which I feel is not too bad.

Please see my article:

I HAVE LINKED THIS ARTICLE OF YOURS THERE! (You may also link my article to this if you wish).

Gary, you suggest the writer is biased because he's writing on HubPages. I don't agree - the writer has decided HubPages is better than other alternatives he's tried, so why wouldn't he be writing here rather than there? It's only logical! My personal experience is that HP pays much better than Helium (my income is 4 times as much with only a third the number of articles), and I know several people who have similar comments about Triond vs HubPages.

Associated Content may be good for those who can sell their articles there (which is US residents only), but the performance payments are dismal.

I've tried eHow.com, Hubpages.com, Xomba.com, Triond.com, Associated Content.com, Squidoo.com, and Blogger.com. I don't think of of those is worth it, but Hubpages is probably the best one out of all those. If you want to make some real money from writing, then build your own website or blog by buying a domain and paid web hosting. You can buy a domain at Godaddy.com and for web hosting I use webhostingpad (they give you 1 free domain).

My vote goes to blogger and Hubpages. Site share revenue for the ads they get, why to get a share when we can have 100%, so better blog or arite on hubpages!

Well written!

You answered my main question - Helium or HubPages. So far, I love HubPages - much easier than WordPress, and better than eHow. Now I must learn about promotion and make sure all the affiliate links are working. Very complicated stuff - the writers on HubPages are amazing - to handle the technical and the writing too - very highly skilled. Please keep sharing your great ideas on blogging.
