Why YOU Should Vote? Practical Reasons That Might Convince YOU!
71WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE? DUH!
Right now - more Americans than ever before are asking the question - "WHY Should I VOTE?"
Have you had this conversation recently with someone you know personally?
Sorry, but "why" are we actually having this conversation so publically in the first place?
Are these excuses not to vote - that we are discussing around the water cooler, our way of excusing each other in some way? Are we trying to make "not" voting "this time" like some sort of acceptable choice in itself... empowerment of some crazy kind?
Or maybe we are having this conversation so that we can all just make each other "feel" okay about our desire to be neglectful?
There you go... I said it!
TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE.... DO WE HAVE A VOTE ON THIS?
VOTING REQUIRES A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!

A Vote For Anyone Is A Vote For Hope! WHAT?
Are we all just lacking a general sense of responsibility lately? After all... we still cannot cast our vote by the click of our mouse.... yet.
drats!
Is it too much work to think about? Meaning... it means you must be somewhat informed, to then cast a responsible vote - or else you are being apathetic - right? Is that what we are allowing ourselves to believe?
Is this the reason that we are "thinking" of just taking a pass on this election?
Frankly - I want to just "scream" when I hear someone tell me that they are NOT going to vote. Most common excuse for their declaration that they are not going to vote... "they don't like anyone running"!
Now, that is LAME!
First of all, it is not my intention to offend anyone by writing about this problem of apathy that is spreading itself rampant right now... but come on people - doesn't all of this, when "we" think about it - even for for just a minute.... really just sound like some spoiled child whinning?
Hey... choosing NOT to vote, is not trendy. So - don't try it.
LAME EXCUSES NOT TO VOTE...
- I DON'T HAVE A RIDE TO THE POLLS
- MY DOG IS SICK
- EVERYBODY IS DOING IT
- I'M GOING ON VACATION AND WILL BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY
- I FORGOT TO REGISTER
- MY CAUSE DID NOT MAKE THE BALLOT
- I DON'T KNOW HOW TO VOTE
- WHO'S RUNNING?
- NOBODY CARES WHAT I THINK
- WHY SHOULD I CARE
- TOO COMPLICATED FOR ME
- MY PARENTS WON'T LET ME
- I CAN'T FIND MY KEYS
- WHAT VOTE?
IMPORTANT Reasons, that you need to VOTE!
If this radical thought process is working for you right now - and the little bubble that you have surrounded yourself in...
- WARNING: BubbleS will burst - and the lack of responsibility as an adult will have its consequences. YOU are over 18.
History and politics bear this out!
So, don't you!
YIKES! The graves of all patriots who ever lived or died for the freedoms that you and I enjoy - are most likely rolling over in thier very graves! Let alone all those who do and ever have taken the right to vote in this country as a privilege -- that they would never have cast off so casually... like it was a CHOICE!
Have you tried this on any of them? NOT! See... I knew you know better.
What are your lame excuses for not voting?
Somebody still wants me! To VOTE that is...
WARNING: When we forget a thing... REMINDERS always follow! Usually not so pleasant...
The only real choices we have when it comes to voting is this -
- Who?
- What?
- Why?
Just three. And then you make your declaration and mark it!
First of all, you need to know that I am neither a politician, activist or very savy when it come to politics in general. I am pretty much you. But not quite!
I am still refusing to give into that attitude or give myself or anyone else seeking permission - to just take a pass on "this" vote... because I don't like anyone.
Don't ask me or anyone else - to cheer you on to vote or try to convince you! That is not my responsibility... or anyone Else's.
In fact - if people were over-all really Okay with their very personal political decision to NOT vote... they would keep it that way - personal.
Personal things exude confidence!
The fact that this conversation is so very comfortable between people right now... is a frightening indicator for our future in this country and where politics is headed.
Hello... politics is YOU:-)

So... I ain't scratchin your back.... sorry.
Don't go thinking that you are setting yourself up for the future when you can then say.... smugly -- "well I didn't vote for so and so"!
Uh uh... I don't think so my friend!
Here is a fact just for you -- anyone who has the RIGHT to vote and does not exercise that privilege -- merely negates that voice.
What ever happen to acting and not being acted upon?
Can you say the word "victim"?
And that is what I have to say about politics.... at least for today!

Go ahead, say it... What's yours?
MasonsMom-
I am totally with you on this too! (although every time when it is time to get serious... I can easily find my passion:-)
I don't consider myself any kind of a political activist, (this is completely bipartisan) but I am totally shocked at this conversation that is going on right now.
How easy it would be for particularly the younger generation to get the message that to vote is optional.
Choice.... right? Go vote and then make a choice:-)
Thanks for engaging in the conversation. This is really quite important to let people know that it is not OK to not vote. We should not make people feel good about being... like you said "lazy"! LOL
I still get that patriotic feeling each time I go to the polls, although I might have been a little shaky on some checks... but I love to get my little sticker. I know I have participated in a process that is truly what it means to be an American.... but most important to be free:-)
And yes... sometimes I have had to get my butt up off the chair and make myself go do it!
I now have four children who are eligible to vote... and they best read my HUB! LOL
Write-On!

Bravo!!!! I could not agree with you more! I also am not "into" politics--I find it boring and hard to understand. However I do my homework to be able to make an educated decision and I go VOTE. I think we've all gotten a little lazy--we Americans are so used to everything being handed to us on a silver platter that God forbid we have to DO something to continue the process of free speech!
