Why I Left Live Journal
61and Why I've Returned.
Once upon a time I joined the forum site Livejournal.com. And for a while all was well. But the more bells and whistles they added, the more my poor dialup system would crash. I'd get about 3 pages into it, and I'd have to reboot. Some of my communities took off, and I wasn't very good at maintaining or moderating them because of my computer issues.
So I appointed some helpers and basically stayed away, hoping some day things would get better.
Well, I got an email today saying the background on my busiest community had crashed.
It was nice to get a heads up because back when I started the communities, half of them had custom backgrounds parked on a hosting side called Picture Trails. Well, I am guessing my account expired from lack of use, and all my backgrounds went bye-bye.
The other computer in the house has just added DSL. I wanted it on my computer too, but found out the router would be $100. But if I borrow the other computer, I can start enjoying Live Journal again.
I deleted about 10 of my communities because they hadn't had a post in 2 years.
But to my surprise, some of my communities thrived while I was gone. The Bookcrossing one is phenomenal.
So I thought I'd post some of them in case anyone on Hubpages would like to go see what I'm talking about.
And hopefully I've fixed all the backgrounds now.

One of the big differences for me is Hubpages works fine with my dial-up connection, where as Live Journal doesn't.
Also, I feel more like a writer on hubpages and less like a blogger. I consider this an online magazine that I write for.
