Wifi on mobile phones: One of the best reasons in buying a cell phone

Computers nowadays are getting cheaper, lighter, smaller, slicker, faster, packed with many applications, and more powerful. Along with it is the internet connections' progress. Connections are growing by the day. People's lives are being shaped by this "cyber thingy" (as you read this maybe yours as well). And it seems there is no stopping.

On the other hand cell phones are no different. It used to be that if you own one it's a luxury (in some countries), but now it's a necessity. Cell phones are packed with so many features that sometimes the real essence of communication becomes secondary. Cell phone nowadays has analogue TV, games, MP3, radios, organizers, Bibles, Dictionaries, GPS, power point presentations, and many others; but one of its innovations is, being able to surf and communicate through the internet.

These are some simple reasons why wifi-ready phones are a good consideration in buying a phone:

• Many areas have wifi and the good thing, many more are coming. Malls have so many wifi signals (though a number needs passwords, but there are always areas that are free); A coffee shop (almost all that I know wifi is a standard feature). Offices (if you are tired of waiting you just hook up); Hospitals (some has, and many more are coming); Restaurants and bars. These are some areas or institutions that wifi is present (there could be more).

• Technically, Wifi is free. It doesn't take away your load or credits from your cell company. Wifi is independent from your network it functions as an entity because your phone has that technology, of course the only setback is that, if you are not in a wifi hotspot or the host is not offering it free (like passwords, or cards), you cannot hook to the net . As long as you are using the internet through your wifi and not through your 3G technology (which most if not all wifi-ready cell phones has 3G capability) It's FREE.

• Phones are more convenient than your laptops. Phones can be brought anywhere with less hassle. If you are in the mall for instance and been waiting for somebody let us say in a bench or standing up, you can still check your emails, blogs, accounts, or chat using messenger, or just simply surf or download some applications (not all). Of course, laptop has more functionality than a cell but if you are simply going out and unwinding yourself with friends or families, or simply waiting for your turn in a crowded office, a phone could come in handy.

• Phones with this capacity are getting cheaper. If we'll just talk about wifi-ready phones (except for those high-ends having the same features) is actually cheap. A Nokia e51 (one of their cheapest) can be like $250 the same or lesser than other phones which are music-focused, or camera-focused. And yet it has camera too (2 mega pixel), and mp3 also (up to 4 gigabyte of memory capacity meaning can store more than 500 music).

• Apple-Iphones have this capacity. As a matter of fact they have a better resolution that other cheaper phones available. If you are an Iphone fanatic, this technology is very available for you. And i would suggest that one has to use and explore this phone capabilities.

These are just simple views on this subject. Depending on your needs, a laptop is always best in mobile internet (so to speak). But the main focus of this thesis is that wifi phones are here, if you are an internet savvy (the fact you are reading this one means, you most likely is one) a phone with this feature is highly recommended. Because most likely if your phone has this feature, you'll be able to use it some time.
