Will MP3's replace CD's and tapes for radio broadcasts? Why or why not?

No CD!

Certainly and in the future (in some places already now) it will be not an mp3 format, but it will be digital files without compression. Such as wav.

Digital files are easy to copy, they cannot be scratched or broken. It is very easy to create backup copies for storage what perfectly protects from loss of the data.

It very conveniently also does not demand a lot of place for storage. It allows to find quickly song or the program you need.

Mp3 actively being used for broadcasting. The future behind formats without compression. I'm sure for 100% :)

CDs are already on their way out. I'd much rather bring my iPod with me in the car than a stack of bulky CDs

I'll give you the benefit of not finding your favorite CD scratched and stuffed under a couch. However, as packaging becomes a prehistoric creature, we're also losing the element of album art, an undervalued beauty that can often conveys so much more about the artist's purpose. Thumbs up for the environmental aspect, thumbs down for the loss of nostalgia.

I hope that you are right, because I really deplore the CD technology. After buying 3 CD players in a row that only lasted a few months, I bought a very expensive high end Sony that's been running great.

However, in my search for high quality CD players, I noticed that a lot of them come with docking stations for the Apple IPOD. So, I would at least suspect that Apple may have a major say in the future of this technogy.

But as you can see http://www.buzzfeed.com/timothymccorkell I've been experimenting with all sorts of technolgy. And I'm still very much a novice with all these bells and whistles. So, I'll be looking forward to read what you and others may have to say on this subject.

Hello,

You have one hube. That amazing how men can say it all in few words. You are really a typical man - a technician. That is good.

I used to "do radio". I loved to talk, to interview people and to play the music people liked to listen to. I used cassettes and vinyl discs - it is old fashion, but I still like it - at home I still have them.

Sounds very convenient.
