Will We Elect a Socialist President? What We Have to Lose

If You Aren't Frightened, You Should Be!

Not many years ago, if any candidate had said he wanted to redistribute the wealth of our nation; to take from the productive working people and give handouts to those who are not productive, he would have been ignored or put in his place, which means the only way he could be a candidate for president would be with one of the small, radical "third parties." No way would he have been given even a passing consideration by one of the two main parties. Yet today we have such a man actually supported by a major party. That is a sad surprise. What is not a surprise is that he is also supported by many of those who see themselves as the intellectual elite and, of course, all those who choose not to learn about candidates; just vote the way the party says to.

Income redistribution has already been taking place for a long time. Many Democrat led congresses, especially when a Democrat was president, have achieved this. We can look back to FDR for the major shift to acceptance of this, with fellows like LBJ and "The Great Society" helping the plan along. It has been essentially worthless in improving anyone's lot in life, but failure has never stopped those who advocate socialism. But even though it has been creeping in for so long, FDR, LBJ, and others never admitted that they really wanted to redistribute the wealth. Barack Obama is the first in such a high position to actually say so. I suppose we should give him credit for telling the truth.

That is where the truth stops, though. He goes on to say that we will "grow the economy from the bottom up." Either he is quite ignorant (which I doubt), or he believes the rest of us are. You cannot grow the economy by giving people money. The economy grows by minimizing restrictions and penalties on those who create jobs, develop new products and processes, and implement new ideas. This allows more people to become productive and generates genuine wealth.

Within the past two years the liberals have driven jobs out of the United States of America through a minimum wage increase and other ways of restricting or penalizing those who are successful and productive. At the same time they have passed legislation which created the housing crises by forcing lenders to loan to those who could not afford their loans. Then they acted surprised when it all fell apart. Barack Obama was a primary supporter of this foolishness. John McCain (and George Bush) and some others who support fiscally strong practices) tried to sound an alarm and/or stop these lending practices.

Along with wealth redistribution, Obama wants to put coal miners out of work. He wants to raise a variety of taxes that will affect nearly everyone who works, and he has said to expect your electric rates to "skyrocket." That will even affect those who don't work. He wants to take away the freedom of workers to vote for or against unions. He has consistently supported the "right" of mothers to have their children killed. He has actively worked on an "education" program to teach young people to be rebellious. He has closely associated with men who hate our nation and, like Timothy McVeigh, have literally attacked us. None of this seems to matter to his fellow liberal leaders, but it should frighten everyone one of us who wants this nation to survive.

Two last (stray) thoughts: The Constitution set our election day. There is no provision for voting earlier than that day. Finally, voting for the sake of voting is no virture. If you don't know what you are voting for, please don't vote.

Another excellent hub. Obama is taking this country towards Communism - flat out. And what really frightens me is that so many have been brainwashed into believing that all of the evils of socialism are right-wing! I can argue with people till I'm blue in the face that Hitler's Germany (yeah, the Nazi's) really were left-wing. They laugh at me, mock and scorn me. Where did they get this ridiculous idea? From the left-run schools that are now the norm. This is also a popular stance if you want to have lots of friends and don't want to have to think for yourself. I feel the same as bernie1936 - but that doesn't mean I'd ever give up the fight.
