Doug Hoffman, a man I hope is our future. From the northern most part of New York state in Congressional District 23, Mr. Hoffman has just been endorsed by the Republican National Committee (RNC).

It’s a big deal to republicans for if Mr. Hoffman wins over his democrat rival, Bill Owens, it will be a strong signal our acting-president Barack Obama might be falling out of favor with the entire citizenry of the Great United States of America.

It’s too soon to know but it won’t be too soon by midnight next Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Add a win by Hoffman in the special election to wins by republicans Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell in their pursuits for the governor’s offices in New Jersey and Virginia respectively, Mr. Obama surely will understand it’s time he learn how to bite his fingernails.

Doug Hoffman
The magic of Mr. Hoffman, running as a candidate of the Conservative Party of New York, really isn’t magic at all. It’s just the way things are in politics. You see, there was a republican, Dede Scozzafava, in the mix as well until today. Ms. Scozzafava withdrew from the race because the polls show her too far back in third place to catch up. If she were not in the race from the beginning, I suspect Mr. Hoffman would have declared his candidacy as a republican.

It’s good for republicans she withdrew for, as a social moderate, she is more of a democrat than republican. Her support of abortion rights and gay marriage certainly aren’t in line with the thinking of most conservatives. Now that she is gone, Hoffman has a better chance of winning the congressional post.

According to Wikipedia, Hoffman is pro-life, against gay marriage and supports adding troops to Afghanistan. Further, as near as I can tell, he is still married to his only wife after 36 years and has raised three children, an indication he is dedicated to rich family values. His personal attributes are everything I think of when I think of the Republican party.

Hoffman, a Certified Public Accountant, has two degrees, one in accounting and the other in finance and accounting, an important education for success in the business world and, one would think, in the U. S. Congress. Another important point about Hoffman is that, as a successful CPA, he likely understands the need to maintain good communication and “people” skills. Otherwise, his clients would leave him for a competitor. Chances are those skills will take him a long way in achieving success with congressional opposition.

Endorsements
Mr. Hoffman has been endorsed by credible conservatives including Michelle Bachmann, Glenn Beck, Jim DeMint, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum and Fred Thompson among others.

Will Mr. Hoffman pull it off?
A fair chance he will. At this writing, he and Mr. Owens are as good as tied according to this excerpt from the article, Siena: Owens And Hoffman Deadlocked, by Elizabeth Benjamin:

"While Owens has picked up three points of support over the last few weeks, Hoffman has surged going from third place and 23 percent support to now being virtually tied for the lead with 35 percent support," said Siena spokesman Steve Greenberg.
"...Owens has shown slow, steady momentum, particularly with Democratic and independent voters," Greenberg continued. "With the exception of Democrats, however, Hoffman has picked up considerable steam with voters of virtually every demographic, and particularly with Republican, younger and Catholic voters. He has picked up 10 points in the region he does best in, 12 points in the region Owens wins and 15 points in Scozzafava’s home territory."

Like ”they” say, we’ll wait and see.

Whatever the outcome, Mr. Hoffman is a winner on the stage of life.
