Window Treatments: Creative Ideas for Decorating Odd-Shaped Windows
77Odd-shaped windows can be challenging when decorating a home, but it is just as important to cover odd-shaped windows for privacy and light control as it is to cover any other windows throughout the home. Standard window treatments do not always work well with odd-shaped windows, but hexagon-shaped windows and other unique shapes can be dressed up in the following creative and stylish ways.
Wall Decor for Windows
Wrought iron wall decor looks stunning on walls, but have you ever considered how it might look when displayed over an odd-shaped window? A hexagon-shaped pane that is difficult to cover with conventional window treatments looks unique and highly stylish when covered with a fine work of wrought iron wall art. Windows of almost all shapes and sizes can be further embellished with wrought iron wall art. Simply measure the frame and select a work of wrought iron wall decor that will span the height and width of the glass. Securely attach it to the frame using small screws or trim nails. Wrought iron wall art of just the right size mounted over an odd-shaped pane will look like part of the decor, and it will make a dramatic impression.
Strings of Beautiful Beads
In the 60’s and 70’s beaded curtains were all the rage, and these days beaded curtains can be used to create stylish and colorful window treatments. To find modern beaded curtains, look no further than the glass bead aisle of your local craft supply store. There you will find hundreds of styles, sizes, and colors, and they can be used to create beautiful window treatments. In addition to glass beads in colors and styles of your choice, buy a flexible curtain rod that can be secured around an odd-shaped window and sturdy invisible thread. Mount the flexible curtain rod around the top of the window, and measure strands of invisible thread that will cover the shape of the glass from top to bottom. String the beads and tie the strands across the flexible rod to create a unique and very stylish curtain that is sure to impress.
Stylish and Budget-Priced Clings
When window treatments must provide privacy but let in adequate light, consider using stained glass window clings to cover odd-shaped windows. When searching for stylish window clings, consider buying hand-painted clings instead of the machine-stamped variety. Hand-painted clings are very affordable and look far more impressive than the thin store-bought varieties. Gel clings are also quite impressive and look like painted glass. These types of window treatments are ideal for covering odd-shaped windows, and since they are available in all sizes and shapes they can be used to cover the glass for complete privacy or a portion of the glass for light control, additional color, and unmatchable style.

Hanging Plants
An odd-shaped window is very easy to cover with hanging plants. Although hanging foliage typically will not completely cover the glass it will filter light and provide a measure of privacy. Consider buying a large hanging plant or an array of plants for decorating an odd-shaped window. In addition, instead of using a ceiling hook, use a decorative wrought iron wall hook. Plants and wrought iron plant hangers look especially impressive when placed in front of a window decorated with wrought iron wall decor. A trailing vine provides interest and additional privacy when trained to climb on a wrought iron wall grille mounted over a window. This look is especially stylish in a room decorated in a Mediterranean or cottage style, but it can be incorporated into a number of decorating styles in almost any room in the home.

Inspiring guide on decorating unorthodox windows. I'd rather call them that - unorthodox - instead of odd-shaped. That floor-to-ceiling window in your picture is nothing odd, if not beautiful-looking. Good hub. I'm into home improvement myself.
