Windows Dreamscene

Although there are many upgrades brought by the Vista Ultimate Upgrade, Dreamscene is the feature that speaks for itself. Windows Dreamscene allows you to use a video as a custom wallpaper. Currently my desktop is a seamlessly streaming ocean. The graphics are so realistic that the rolling waves tend to make me a little sick sometimes. Maybe it's time to change to the exploding Windows Vista ornaments or rain drops falling on the street at night.

I remember searching for something similar to Dreamscene several years ago, only to find some cheesy looking fireplace that lagged out my computer. Since I began using Dreamscene wallpapers, I have noticed zero performance differences, brought my computer to life, and have had many people ask, "How do you do that? We customize our cell phones, why not our computers?

An easy Google search will lead to many websies to download .dreamscene, .mpeg, or .wmv files. These are all supported by Dreamscene. You can even create your own videos to play in the background! One guy had a video of himself surfing in the background.

After installing DreamScene finding new videos and customizing other things on my computer became a hobby of mine. The first day alone, I spent hours searching for new DreamScene files. This led to customizing Icons, folders, and fonts.

Another thing that I added to my desktop was ObjectDock, which acts as an animated program dock at the bottom of the screen. When I scroll over my icons they blow up. Dreamscene and app docks together, can make your desktop look really slick.

Here's a video that shows several different Dreamscenes. My favorite is the reflection of the street lamp in the rain puddle.
