Windows Run Commands:

The following codes or commands are applicable in windows operating system only.
These commands are intended to make your navigation in windows faster.
Click start button then click run and type the following:

Computer management - compmgmt.msc
Device manager- devmgmt.msc
Disk management - diskmgmt.msc
Disk defrag - dfrg.msc
Event viewer - eventvwr.msc
Shared folders - fsmgmt.msc
Group policies - gpedit.msc
Local users and groups - lusrmgr.msc
Performance monitor - perfmon.msc
Resultant set of policies - rsop.msc
Local security settings - secpol.msc
Using these commands are much faster than clicking many buttons and menus to access them
Various Services - services.msc
System Configuration Utility - msconfig
Registry Editor - regedit
System Information - msinfo32
System Edit - sysedit
windows loading information(also system.ini) - win.ini
Shows current version of windows - winver
Opens default email client - mailto:
Opens command prompt - command
Opens command prompt - cmd

Or you may type this in the command prompt.
Click start, then run then type cmd or command and a command prompt will appear and you can type these commands in the command prompt.

Run Commands to access the control panel:

These are the shortcut to access control panel.
Instead of clicking Start, Settings then control panel and select the icons in the control panel window, its much faster if you just click start, then run then type the following.

Note: The the words in the left are the description of the command/code in the right. The commands or code are typed in bold.

Command Prompt:

Type these commands using command prompt. Click start then run then type cmd or command.

Defines functions that change display graphics, control cursor movement, and reassign keys. - ANSI.SYS
Causes MS-DOS to look in other directories when editing a file or running a command. - APPEND
Displays, adds, and removes arp information from network devices. - ARP
Assign a drive letter to an alternate letter. - ASSIGN
View the file associations - ASSOC
Schedule a time to execute commands or programs - AT
Lists connections and addresses seen by Windows ATM call manager - ATMADM
Display and change file attributes - ATTRIB
Recovery console command that executes a series of commands in a file - BATCH
Recovery console command that allows a user to view, modify, and rebuild the boot.ini - BOOTCFG
Enable / disable CTRL + C feature - BREAK
View and modify file ACL's - CACLS
Calls a batch file from another batch file - CALL
Changes directories - CD
Supplement the International keyboard and character set information - CHCP
Changes directories - CHDIR
Check the hard disk drive running FAT for errors - CHKDSK
Check the hard disk drive running NTFS for errors - CHKNTFS
Specify a listing of multiple options within a batch file - CHOICE
Clears the screen - CLS
Opens the command interpreter - CMD
Easily change the foreground and background color of the MS-DOS window - COLOR
Compares files - COMP
Compresses and uncompress files - COMPACT
Open control panel icons from the MS-DOS prompt - CONTROL
Convert FAT to NTFS - CONVERT
Copy one or more files to an alternate location - COPY
Change the computers input/output devices - CTTY
View or change the systems date - DATE
Debug utility to create assembly programs to modify hardware settings - DEBUG
Re-arrange the hard disk drive to help with loading programs - DEFRAG
Deletes one or more files - DEL
Recovery console command that deletes a file - DELETE
Deletes one or more files and/or directories - DELTREE
List the contents of one or more directory - DIR
Recovery console command that disables Windows system services or drivers - DISABLE
Compare a disk with another disk - DISKCOMP
Copy the contents of one disk and place them on another disk - DISKCOPY
Command to view and execute commands that have been run in the past - DOSKEY
A GUI to help with early MS-DOS users - DOSSHELL
Enables overwrite of original device drivers - DRIVPARM
Displays messages and enables and disables echo - ECHO
View and edit files.- EDIT

Stops the localization of the environment changes enabled by the setlocal command.- ENDLOCAL

Utility used to create partitions on the hard disk drive - FDISK
Search for text within a file - FIND
Searches for a string of text within a file - FINDSTR
Writes a new boot sector - FIXBOOT
Writes a new boot record to a disk drive - FIXMBR
Boolean used in batch files - FOR
Command to erase and prepare a disk drive - FORMAT
Command to connect and operate on a FTP server - FTP
isplays or modifies file types used in file extension associations - FTYPE
Moves a batch file to a specific label or location - GOTO
Show extended characters in graphics mode - GRAFTABL
Display a listing of commands and brief explanation - HELP
Allows for batch files to perform conditional processing - IF
32-bit file manager - IFSHLP.SYS
Network command to view network adapter settings and assigned values - IPCONFIG
Change layout of keyboard - KEYB
Change the label of a disk drive - LABEL
Load a device driver in to high memory - LH
Recovery console command that displays the services and drivers - LISTSVC
Load a program above the first 64k - LOADFIX
Load a device driver in to high memory - LOADHIGH
Lock the hard disk drive - LOADHIGH
Recovery console command to list installations and enable administrator login - LOGON
MAPDisplays the device name of a drive.
Command to create a new directory - MD
Display memory on system - MEM
Command to create a new directory - MKDIR
Modify the port or display settings - MODE
Display one page at a time - MORE
Move one or more files from one directory to another directory - MOVE
Early M*cros*ft Virus scanner - MSAV
Diagnostics utility - MSD
Utility used to load and provide access to the CD-ROM - MSCDEX
Displays protocol statistics and current TCP/IP connections using NBT - NBTSTAT
Update, fix, or view the network or network settings - NET
Configure dynamic and static network information from MS-DOS - NETSH
Display the TCP/IP network protocol statistics and information - NETSTAT
Load country specific information - NLSFUNC
Look up an IP address of a domain or host on a network - NSLOOKUP
View and modify the computers path location - PATH
View and locate locations of network latency - PATHPING
Command used in batch files to stop the processing of a command - PAUSE
Test / send information to another network computer or network device - PING
Changes to the directory or network path stored by the pushd command - POPD
Conserve power with computer portables - POWER
Prints data to a printer port - PRINT
View and change the MS-DOS prompt - PROMPT
Stores a directory or network path in memory so it can be returned to at any time - PUSHD
Or you may click start > program files> accessories > command prompt
Open the QBasic - QBASIC
Removes an empty directory - RD
Renames a file or directory - REN
Renames a file or directory - RENAME
Removes an empty directory - RMDIR
View and configure windows network route tables - ROUTE
Enables a user to execute a program on another computer - RUNAS
Run the scandisk utility - SCANDISK
Scan registry and recover registry from errors - SCANREG
Change one variable or string to another - SET
Enables local environments to be changed without affecting anything else- SETLOCAL
Change MS-DOS version to trick older MS-DOS programs- SETVER
Installs support for file sharing and locking capabilities- SHARE
Changes the position of replaceable parameters in a batch program- SHIFT
Shutdown the computer from the MS-DOS prompt- SHUTDOWN
Create a disk cache in conventional memory or extended memory- SMARTDRV
Sorts the input and displays the output to the screen- SORT
Start a separate window in Windows from the MS-DOS prompt- START
Substitute a folder on your computer for another drive letter- SUBST
Remove add functions from MS-DOS- SWITCHES
Transfer system files to disk driveSYS
Telnet to another computer / device from the prompt- TELNET
View or modify the system time- TIME
Change the title of their MS-DOS window- TITLE
Visually view a network packets route across a network- TRACERT
View a visual tree of the hard disk drive- TREE
Display the contents of a file- TYPE
Undelete a file that has been deleted- UNDELETE
Unformat a hard disk drive- UNFORMAT
Unlock a disk drive- UNLOCK
Display the version information- VER
Enables or disables the feature to determine if files have been written properly- VERIFY
Displays the volume information about the designated drive- VOL
Copy multiple files, directories, and/or drives from one location to another- XCOPY
When placed before a file, will display the whole directory in which it exists- TRUENAME
It allows you to kill those unneeded or locked up applications- TASKKILL
Note: Use these codes in the right way.
