Vista's hidden secrets
In every Windows Operating system that has ever been made there have always been some hidden secrets for you to find, Windows Vista is no exception and some little quirks can be found if you know where to look.
I have found a few but I know there are a lot more and I will add them after I find them and test them out.
The default boot screen of Windows Vista is a black screen containing just a progress bar and the text "Microsoft Corporation". Those of you who are tired of this boring default look of the Windows Vista Boot Screen, can enable the hidden boot screen.
Aurora Boot Screen
Here is how you can enable the Aurora Boot Screen in Windows Vista:
1. click on the start orb and type in "MSCONFIG" in the searchbox and press Enter
2. once the System Configuration tool loads, click on the Boot tab
3. under Boot Options check "No GUI boot"
4. click apply and then OK and restart your computer to see the new boot screen.
Sounds and Hidden Music
1. Press Win logo key and R. Then it will open Run.
2. Type in "Media" (without quotation marks)
3. It will get a folder of Windows sounds and hidden midi music.
My favorite hidden song is "Town".
What Time is it?
Open note book, then type in" .LOG" (all caps without quotes)
Save using any file name and on the scroll down menu choose all files.
Close out notebook, open the file again and you will find the date and time.
Ribbons
This one is pretty cool
Go to start menu, then all programmes, then accessories, then command prompt.
When the screen comes up type in "ribbons.scr /p65552" (without the quotes) you should also try these ones too.
"aurora.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
"bubbles.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
to close these screens you will then require to open the task manager (Ctrl, Alt and delete keys at the same time and close the programs in end task.)
These are all I could find for now but when I find more I will add them.

Great Hub,Keep it up.
Almost makes me wish I had a PC. ;)
Year by year, countries all over the world started to recognise Christmas as the day for celebrating the birth of Jesus.
you can also go to notepad and type what you want to do and then save it as a .bat file. Then reopen it and it should start that process or operation.

Glad you enjoyed guys.....jimmy
Very cool!
Good tips.
wow, must try some of these. thanks for the tip!
awesome tips, thanks
"aurora.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
I ran this and the entire screen gave that nice wavy look. HOWEVER I was not able to Go to the Task Manager.
Had to reboot :o(
I have not tried:
"bubbles.scr /p65552" (without the quotes)
Nice finds! To end the screensavers, just press ALT+F4 though. You don't need the task manager. :)
What is the /p65552 part for, by the way?
Try putting this in notepad
@ECHO OFF
echo del %1 >> egg2.bat
egg2 egg.*
del egg2.bat
Then saving in a directory with egg.txt as egg.bat.
Execute the file and egg.txt will be gone.
Just when I thought I want to switch to Macs. Great hub. Thanks for the info!
I typed "aurura /p65552" instead of "aurora /p65552" and got something completely different from the one with the "o". In my .02, it's actually cooler!
lol
oops I meant to type the .scr so try out:
aurura.scr /p65552
sorry, I guess that's not right either...scratch all that!
every1 knows the old ester egg star wars movie on xp well its on vista go to controll panel programs and features click turn windows features on/off(left panel) select telnet option let them install it will take a few mins then do the norn in serch type telnet enter then o and enter the towel.blinkenlights.nl 10secs later it will run
dude.. the star wars thing is not a windows Easter egg.. towel.blinkenlights.nl IS running a Telnet server that his that setup... you can do it from any telnet client on any os... Even linux.
Those are some of Vista's screen savers, try using other screen savers in place or "ribbons" "aurora" or "bubbles", like "mystify"
you can also try mystify.scr /p65552
for the ribbons one try mystify.scr/p65552
Very cool. It is always neat to find all the little easter eggs the programmers add to software and games.
Just wondering why the /p65552. played with other #'s either it didn't like my HD4760 vid card or something... glitched me out and had to reboot... so was curious about the #'s
Just an info: You need not bring task manager to close the screen saver, just use the Ctrl+(F4) combination to close the screen saver like you close any other active window.
try "aurora.scr /t" , "bubbles.scr /t" , "ribbons.scr /t" , "mystify.scr /t" without quotes and it will open in and a window.
town sounds like sonic the heghog
/p on the end is the process for the screen saver to attach to. The number after is the pid (Process ID) of the desktop.
If you run bubbles.src from the Start Box you get bigger bubbles!
Here is another desktop one to be entered in cmd;"ssText3d.scr/p65552" pretty boring though. ned
