Windows Vista is considered to be a reliable, secure and high performance operating system. But as bugs and errors can’t always be ruled out, you might observe certain system failure issues while using Windows Vista. One of the typical symptoms is that computer might fail to boot, displaying STOP errors on screen. It can occur if one or more important system files or registry files that system requires to boot are missing or damaged. To cope up with such situations, you need to reinstall Windows Vista and restore lost information from your recent data backup. If you face any issues with your backup (like it is damaged or not updated) or you don’t have any backup, scan your hard drive using commercial data recoveryapplications.

You might observe one of the following symptoms while trying to boot a Windows Vista based computer:

Cause

You can observe aforementioned symptoms if any of the below components is missing or corrupted:

· Device driver file

· Windows registry

· A system file

Solution

To correct this issue, you need to have Windows Vista installation disc. Follow these steps to fix the problem:

  • Insert the Windows Vista installation disc and boot your system
  • Opt for the preferred language and then click ‘Next’
  • Select ‘Repair your computer’ option
  • You need to then select the operating system to be repaired in ‘System Recovery Options’ dialog box
  • In the same dialog box, click to choose ‘Startup Repair’ option
  • Startup Repair will automatically try to detect and correct startup problems that prevent Windows Vista from booting. Click Finish when the process gets completed.

Note: If your computer has preinstalled recovery options, you need not to use Windows Vista installation disc to use ‘Startup Repair’ tool.

  • If above measures fail to solve the problem, you should reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows Vista. After reformatting, use your recent data backup to restore. If backup fails to give required information, data recovery software can be used for scanning the affected media and recovering lost data. These Data Recovery applications come equipped with safe and advanced recovery abilities.
