Wireless Door Alarm
61If you are looking for a wireless door alarm, there are many products available for you, depending on what you are looking for. Using traffic analysis on Google’s keyword tool and the popularity of door security devices on the trusted Amazon site, I was able to come up with an overview of the most popular wire free door alarm systems available online today…
Perhaps you are looking for a wire free door alarm, which will alert you whenever your kids leave the house. You can get a wireless alarm for this purpose for under $10, just by searching for a “wireless door alarm” in google (you’ll see what I mean).
You might also want a wireless door alarm to act as a deterrent if a thief or burglar tries to come into your house. One of the more popular and cheap door alarms for this purpose is the GE wireless door alarm, known on Amazon as the “GE 51107 SmartHome Wireless Alarm System Kit”. The reviews on this product are very good, with it getting a 4/5 star rating, and it is very cheap as well, costing you only $25.00. This specific product comes with the main door alarm and three window alarms, making it a full wireless door & window alarm. Unlike a traditional security system, which is connected to your security company and police, this product only acts to scare away anyone with bad intentions. User reviews noted that it was extremely load and that it might very well end up waking your neighbors. Although this wireless door alarm system is cheap, keep in mind that you get what you are paying for. The window alarms aren’t very load and can easily be muffled up with a cloth. The door alarm for any of your neighbors to hear depending on where you live. If anything, this product acts as a piece of mind rather than a home security system replacement. When we go to sleep, we’ve all had that fear that someone is in our house without our knowing. With this wireless door alarm home, you are getting at least some kind of warning that someone may be in your house. If you don’t want any window alarms, you can try the “GE Keypad Door Alarm”, which is very much the same thing as the door/window system, except that it is only meant to be used on your door(s).

Another neat gizmo from GE, in regards to a wireless door alarm for your home, is the “GE 50246 SmartHome Door Stop Alarm”. Rather than having to paste it above your door or window using a glue, it’s a door stop which, when pressure is applied to it, gives of a piercing 120 decibel sound, similar to how loud a police siren is. You can use it as an additional security measure to an existing security system because this one doesn’t have a relay, meaning that it works the second your door is opened. Best of all, because it is simply a door stop, you can take it with you anywhere you want, be it for your vacation or a business trip. After all, you never know when you’re going to be stuck in a fishy hotel. You can get this portable wireless door alarm for a mere $10 on Amazon. As with all security devices such as this, you should be aware that this is no substitute for a real security system, which is connected to the local authorities.

Another popular wireless door entry alarm is the Intermatic wireless door alarm, known on Amazon as the “Intermatic Magnetic Trip Wireless Alarm with Keypad #SP130B”. Unlike the GE system noted above, this alarm does not have admirable reviews. Then again, because there are very few of them, it’s very hard to conclude anything. Because Intermatic has very good reviews on its wireless window alarms on Amazon, I would guess that this specific door alarm works just as well. Keep in mind that you can also use this product for windows. It’s also inexpensive, costing your around $18.

Is it okay to substitute these systems for full fledges home security systems, which are connected to the police? Well, it’s all a matter of opinion. Statistically speaking, there is a very low chance that someone will sneak into your house. Although you see police, fire trucks, and ambulance in those home security commercials, 90% of the work these systems due is done by deterring thieves through alarms, which, as you have seen, you can get really cheap. Although your cheap wireless door or window alarms won’t be connected to the authorities, if the alarm is loud enough and you have a phone next to you, you doing the same thing as a full home security alarm would do. Despite these facts, you should know that a complete home security alarm system will lower your homeowners insurance premium. After all, the cheap wireless door alarm magnetic door products are useless if the thief knows that there is nobody to hear them (assuming you are out of your house). The best wireless door alarm is what you think it is. If you want more protection, go ahead and purchase a security system. If you are okay with having alarms in your house…whatever works for you.
