Networking Your Wireless Electronics In Your Home

Wireless Electronics

Wireless Electronics are making life easier at home.

Computer networking in your home allows you to browse the internet, stream music and much more. To save yourself the pain of weak wireless signals, slow internet service and other problems with some of these useful tips I'm going to give you today.

Tip #1. No matter what, we still must have cables in our home. You must have cables to actually operate the wireless electronics in your home. If your electronics are close to each other it's probably easier to use cable to attach them to one another. CAT-5 cable is commonly used to do this with. It's high speed and efficient. Always use cables if given the choice.

Tip#2. Don't expect the range of wireless electronics to be exactly as advertised. Speeds can vary widely. Your home could be the sopurce of interference. There is also the possibility of conflicting with the wireless electronics from your neighbors. It's always a good idea not to locate your wireless equipment near microwave ovens.

Tip#3. You should secure your wireless electronics with security. If it's not secure there lies the potential that your neighbor could possibly hack into your network if they are computer savvy. If they are tapping into your network just to surf the internet, it could still slow down your internet. You don't want your neighbor surfing bad stuff and the authorities show up at your house because it looks like you are doing it. Always use a strong password when installing security measures.

Tip #4. Use Switches and Routers properly. Switches transfer data from one device to another. A router separates and protects and guides traffic to various wireless electronics in your home.

Tip#5. The electrical wiring in your home can be turned into a network. It's called power line networking. Every plug acts as a network jack. Power line networking is not wireless networking so keep that in mind. You don't have the same freedom. Each outlet that you use would also require an adapter.

Tip#6. Sharing your storage and printing. Most devices can be connected directly to your network. Shared wireless printers are awesome in the home. I have one and would never trade it for anything. Networked hard drives can be shared for storage of files, photos etc. Everyone can access it and backup all their files.

If you apply all of these tips, you will have a very modern network of wireless electronics for your home.
