Besides the availability of numerous plastic surgeries for other parts of the body, women now want to have liposuction on their shoulders to have a “Keira Knightley Look”.

Plastic surgeons in New York have reported that many women are seeking to have a perfect shoulders and want to undergo liposuction to make it look slender like actress Keira Knightley’s and singer Madonna‘s.

The surgeons say women want the fat in their shoulders to be stripped off to make it a more toned and sinewy appearance. Recently they are getting more requests from the United Kingdom according to Dr. Douglas Steinbrech.

The plastic surgery procedure for shoulder will cost between £2,000 ($3,838) and £5,000 ($9,596). The shoulders will be injected with a local anesthetic before they do this procedure.

Incisions about five millimeters (0.20) are cut in the natural creases and shadows of the shoulders and the fat is vacuumed out with a curved suction wands. Other procedures might use lasers to break up and melt the fat cells first before they vacuum the excess fat.

Dr. Steinbrech however said this procedure is for women in great ship and very trim. He told Daily Mail:

They maybe go to the gym three or five days a week but there are a few areas that the gym can't reach, such as their shoulders, knees and ankles. It is not a procedure I perform on obese women.'

He said the surgery is pain-free and patients can return to work within a few days. He claims 80 percent of the swelling goes down within two weeks and the bruising on their shoulders disappear within ten days.

Barbara Jemec, consultant plastic surgeon at the Chelsea and Westminister Hospital hopes that this procedure doesn’t come to UK. She told Daily Mail:

'It sounds a bit extreme. There are other places where fat is much more visible on women's bodies and shoulders can scar easily…The likes of Keira Knightley and Madonna have skinny shoulders because they are skinny all over. I think in this country we are moving away from women having to be stick-thin. A woman who looks normal and healthy is much better.'

It is sad women want to look like Keira but don’t want to be like Keira, who refuses to do any plastic surgery or even allow photo manipulation of her pictures.
