Wood Plaques | Wood Name Plates | Wood Engravings

Wood plaques are good for a wide array of occasions. From weddings to anniversaries to nice home meorials, there are many different types of wood engravings and wooden plaques can be used for a wide variety of things. Wood plaques or etchings come in a variety of different manners and set ups, and there are many providers who can often locally provide wooden plaques for any occasion.

One thing I really like about the many different wood plaque designs is the natural ambiance that wood has as opposed to fake marble or hard synthetic plastic, or many of the other fake materials that are used for traditional plaques or engravings. Another nice thing about wood is the many different shades of color that a wood plaque can have. Walnut, cedar, oak, elm, and maple are all going to have very different looks and different shades to them. This means, as the picture to the right clearly shows, that wooden plaques or wooden trophies (or whatever you want to call them) can have a wide variety of different looks and designs.

This is also fantastic, since wood plaques have a more personal feel than many trophies, which are often mass reproduced with only a name and tiny plate adding any difference.  So if you're looking for a great personal gift that adds recognition, take a look at a good original wood plaque.

Wood Plaques: Even Unfinished Wood Plaques

Wood plaques are very popular as personalized and customized gifts. There are many companies that specialize in these customized engravings, but wood plaques seem to be especially popular because of the wider array of designs and appearances that are available for consumers. Even beyond normal wood plaques, there is even a growing market for unfinished wood plaques.

There could be several reasons for this. It could be that a consumer wants a plain wooden plaque for background while someone else handles the metal name plates or further customizing work. Another potential option is that there are a lot of amateur wood workers or normal handymen who might want a beautiful, already well maintained empty wood plaque, but want to do the carving or further customizing work themselves.  In this situation, obviously an unfinished wood plaque would be better than one that already had design work finished on it.

Wood plaques, whether finished or unfinished, for many people make a great gift.

Wood Wall Plaques are often seen hanging in offices. I'm personally a huge fan of wooden plaques as opposed to more conventional trophies or cusomized engravings. Considering how good a well made wood plaque is, they are also relatively inexpensive in many cases. While prices can vary greatly from place to place and shop to shop, it's not out of the question to get a large, beautiful, and customized wood plaque for a couple hundred dollars.

Most wooden plaques are designed to be easily hung from office walls, or home walls, or wherever you want to hang them for display. These awards look good, are easy to to buy and/or display, and have a nice personal touch that most gifts can't come close to matching.  These types of plaques are great because they are so different - one is never exactly the same as another and they can come with engravings, letterings, or even artistic pictures and backgrounds in the wood carving.

These can even be collectible as signs, plaques, awards, or even your own personal bits of poetry put to images of your choice.  Whatever hits you as being your preference for this particular type of wood working.

I'm definitely a huge fan of wood plaques, but I'm also slightly biased since my family was in the lumber business. So good wood work is a thing of absolute beauty to all of us :)
