Knowing Latin words can improve people's reading level, writing level, and prepare for the SATS. I am taking an Etymology course, and we are learning all these words, and more throughout the semester. Everytime i read a book, I find one or two of my vocabulary words in the context of the story. I find that breaking  down the roots helps understand the full meaning of each word. The link at the bottom of the page is an Online Etymology Dictionary, which helps break down the words into their stems, it's cool.
