If you choose a different site to host your future piece of Internet Real Estate, from the one you register with, then a site like HostGator or 1to1Hosting would be recommended, both for low cost plans, but also for the many features and ease of use it will provide you. If you go with the seperate company, then you will need to do what is called changing the DNS servers, which essentially means telling the domain to point to your host site. Similar to forwarding addresses with the mail service. It's all about being found online. Your web host will provide you with the DNS number you will need to accomplish this simple but important step.

A quick word on free hosting sites. Don't. You will be burdened with many advertisements placed on your website. This will make your business look unprofessional.
