There are many benefits to taking advantage of work from home opportunities, and although they may seem obvious, I've listed some of them here in the event that this is a new area of interest for you.

  1. Set your own hours
  2. No need to commute
  3. Work Part time or Full time
  4. Experience Personal Growth
  5. Use your creativity
  6. Work alone or with others
  7. Possible tax advantages
  8. Unlimited income possibility

Although much has been written about why it may be wise to consider one of the many work from home opportunities available, I think there is always room for one more article. It is critically important to research the opportunity you're considering because, well, look at it this way. You will invest the same amount of energy, hours and activity building one home based business as you would another. Ask yourself this question: If I am going to devote my time and energy to this product or service, is it truly something I believe in? Another question to ask is, which opportunity is going to pay me the most for the time and energy I am able to invest? Because, truly, no matter what you've been told, this will not be a "get rich quick" experience. You will need to stretch and grow in order to build a successful work from home business. Will you be able to stay in your comfort zone? No...I don't think so!

How do I know this? I have been in the home based business arena for over 22 years. I have had success and I have had not so great success. I have learned many things along the way. I have read many books and interviewed successful home business entrepreneurs. One thing we all agree on is that a work from home opportunity indeed forces you to grow. If you are used to having a boss telling you what to do, you will learn to become your own boss. Fortunately, you get to be the boss you wished you'd always had! You will discover ways to motivate yourself to do the activities your new "job" requires.

In most home based businesses, the primary job is connecting with people. It is essential to learn to ask questions, the right questions, and learn to listen to the answers. Learning the best way to approach people so they don't run the other way when they see you coming, and communicating with them in such a way that they know you have their best interest at heart is imperative. One of the biggest lessons to learning is that it's not about you...it's about them.

A work from home opportunity can be one of the most fulfilling challenges you've ever faced. I encourage you to take the risk, climb aboard and start working for yourself. You will meet the most wonderful people along the way...including parts of yourself that you didn't know about. Your confidence will soar, and waver, and soar, and waver - but as my husband always told me, "just don't quit!"

The tax advantages have been good to me in the past. Even though I have worked f/t as a teacher in the past, I have always had a small creative business at home - allowing me to write off the use of one room and other expenses.

And now I'm making up my mind to ONLY work at home. I'm tired of the commute, and the lack of flexibility, the long hours away from home, etc. It's time to be creative fulltime. That's my goal this year - to transistion from p/t sub and p/t work at home type person to f/t work at home so -

Thanks for your article - it serves as a good pep talk and reminder.
