Work from Home Business Success Tips – Stay on a Schedule to Maximize Work Ethic
52One thing I hear all the time from my friends is how easy I have it working from home. For some reason they think that working from home is very similar to not working at all. Little do they know that they are so far from the truth that I don't even bother to try and explain to these people what I do for a living or how much time I spend working. Furthermore they have no clue of the work ethic it takes to be successful and your home business.
While working from home does provide flexibility to do some extra things with your family, you should be aware that the very flexibility that your privileged to have with working from home will do you in and cause your home business to fail. One thing you could do to help yourself is to make a schedule and stick to the schedule. Here are three recommendations you can use to include in your schedule.
Ensure that you start work at the same time every day. If you work from home and you have clients, you have to keep in mind that your clients are most likely working during business hours. Therefore your schedule should include work hours that so you are available for your clients for most of these business hours.
Furthermore include two to three nights a week in your schedule to work. In my experience you can get more work done after business hours then you would during business hours. This is because there are many interruptions during the day. If you have a family, you'll find that you will have even more interruptions that will break your concentration. So setting aside a couple of hours for two to three nights for working will increase your productivity by allowing you some time to focus on your projects.
Finally and this is most important, schedule time to not be available to work. You'll find that you are working many more hours at your home business then you would be working for someone else. So set some time to not work and do something for yourself. This time can be done in many forms and you should set this time on a daily basis.
One thing you can do is take an extended lunch. Most clients are taking lunch, so it's easier for you to schedule an hour and a half to go to the gym and eat lunch. Also make sure you schedule time in the evening to spend time with your spouses and kids. This time will help you recharge and refocus on your home business.
Creating and keeping a schedule will help you build a work ethic and you will need a great work ethic for home business success.

Great hub! I have thought of these things myself lately. I wonder if, when the time comes that I will be working at home full time, I will be able to discipline myself. It's hard not to play online when you should be working.
