Working to Live-WHAT CRAP!

Now...how is it that I am working to live?! I have an 8 -5 job work full time Monday thru Friday and I have to worry about what I eat not because of my weight but because of my income!

Now I won't tell how much I make, not only because it's embarrassing but it's also something I wish to keep personal. I work for a title company and my title is a "receptionist" but why is it that I'm closing loans for refinances, dealing with customers and real estate agents, having requests for title work in my name and not to mention I WORK TO 6:30PM EVERY DAMN DAY!

But, I can't get paid for the position I'm truly doing? Now that's not right at all. I'm not so sure that my boss realizes it only because she's out of the office way too much. Honestly bringing in a receptionist would help me do my job! I'm busy and answering phones and greeting customers just doesn't help me accomplish my duties any faster.

The company just cut everyone's pay (not mine because I don't get paid enough) because the real estate market isn't doing so good. So I think it might be pointless to even ask for my over due promotion. Who knows at this point.

I've fallen behind on bills before and TRUST ME it's not a good look. But, honestly when I pay all my bills on time I barely have enough left to get me by on food and gas. This is not a good lifestyle for me.

It would be easy to say that I'll just stop doing what I'm doing and only answer phone calls, take the mail and greet customers...but, just for the loyalty I have towards my clients I won't. But seriously can we say UNFAIR!

Well, that's your choice. Your personal choice. It all depends on you and only on you.

Very true. Just venting a little WHILE I'M AT WORK! Changing jobs is a little harder than I thought...

It sounds like you're on your way to bigger and better things. Sometimes you know when it's time to start looking for another job. Life's too short not to be happy.

Hey Krystle, this sounds like an opening to me. I think you're ready to move on and this crappy job is your gift right now. Move on, girl, I have a feeling there's much better in store for you.

you guys are so right! I too think it's a sign to move on. What's great about this is that my boyfriend will be done with school out here in Arizona and now we're heading back to Vegas in May so starting over is in my future no matter what! I feel better =D

I know exactley what you mean. It really sucks being un-appreciated. Oh, they say they appreciate what you do, (sometimes0, but when you make the decision to do what is in your normal job description, they fire you instead of finding out why you have changed your work practices. That is not appreciating a person.

Bosses out there reading this. The persons you hire will represent every facet of your leadership abilities. The strongest testament to your leadership capabilities is firmley inbedded in the eyes and opinions of your workers. Not only of you, but of the company you run or own. Is it not important that the opinions your people relay is one that is not positive? If that is what you want, then treat those who are the backbone of "your empire", like gold, for they truely are if you think about it. They are the ones in the trenches every day, for you. They are the ones who sacrifice time from those they love, finishing the report three other people have been "working on" for six months. They are the ones who run all over the place at five in the morning, dropping off, picking up and otherwise shuffling individuals to young to drive themselves, and then going into the office half an hour early to do something that "just has to be done." They are the ones you depend on for both their daily endeavors as well as in a pinch. They are the one's who are there for you even though you may not know it at the time. And they are the ones smart business people listen too. Treat them better than you treat yourself, because if you do not, they will be gone, and then where will you be? Compensate them well, treat them with the kindness and respect you expect for yourself, and understand their wants, dreams, and skills.
