World Environment Day

Every Year June 5th is celebrated as World Environment Day through out the world to create awareness in our society. World Environment Day was established in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

The Agenda of the World Environment Day

  • Give a human face to environmental issues;
  • Empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development;
  • Promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues;
  • Advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.

Every Year World Environment Day is celebrated with a new theme. This year the theme for World Environment Day is "Your Planet Needs You-Unite to combat climate change" . The theme reflects the urgency of all the nations should combat climate change.
