World Of Warcraft Talents
61Talent points are an important part of a player-character in World of Warcraft. Talent points are one the ways a player has to customize a character. Players ‘spend’ talent points in one of three categories (categories are also called talent trees). A talent point is awarded to the player at level 10, and one talent point is awarded per level after level 10.
Talents give a player character additional abilities or enhance existing abilities. This talent point system allows players to craft a character that suits their playing style. It also allows players to differentiate their character from other characters of the same class. (Class means the type of character; such as warrior, rogue, hunter, and so on.)
A ‘build’ is a collection of talent points spent in a certain pattern. There are three talent trees available to each class. So a build will consist of the abilities or enhancements the player has selected from the three talent trees available to the class. Players for each class have developed standard builds that they share with each other. Players may also use non-standard builds.
The three talent trees typically offer differing strengths. There is usually a talent tree that enhances offensive abilities, a talent tree that enhances defensive abilities, and a utility tree. Thus, by carefully spending their talent points, players can customize their characters to be offensive, defensive, utility, or as is most typical, a combination of two of the trees.
Below is a list of the classes in World of Warcraft, and the talent trees they can spend their talent points on.

Druid: Balance, Feral Combat, Restoration
Hunter: Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, Survival
Mage: Arcane, Frost, Fire
Paladin: Holy, Protection, Retribution
Priest: Shadow, Holy, Discipline
Rogue: Assassination, Combat, Subtlety
Shaman: Elemental, Enhancement, Restoration
Warlock: Affliction, Demonology, Destruction
Warrior:Fury, Arms, Protection
A couple of important facts about builds should be noted. First, builds are not set in stone. For a price in gold, a player can visit a trainer and ‘buy back’ all their talent points, allowing them to spend them again on a different build. Second, top-level guilds may require certain builds of their members. For example, some guilds will require that their Priests have damage builds, and their Paladins have healing builds.

- Patch 3.3 set to conditionally release next week
While we weren't going to announce this until we had something more definitive to announce, a couple other sites are running that patch 3.3 is due to be out next week. From what our multiple sources close to the situation have told us, the following is true: Patch 3.3 is done, more or less. There are a couple server issues to be worked out. If the server issues are worked out, the patch will go live on December 8th. We're not ready to say with 100% certainty that patch 3.3 will arrive next Tuesday for the US, Wednesday for the EU. If these issues are not resolved, then there won't be a patch for at least another week. Don't say we didn't warn you. We should have more solid confirmation towards the end of this week (or sometime next Monday afternoon) and will bring it to you when we get it. All the information about patch 3.3 you need is contained in our guide, so head over there and read up in case you don't know what this monstrous patch will be about. Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.Filed under: Patches, News itemsPatch 3.3 set to conditionally release next week originally appeared on WoW.com on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 23:40:00 EST. - Cooking after Pilgrim's Bounty
So you took advantage of Blizzard's little Cooking leg up during Pilgrim's Bounty (don't be ashamed, I did, too), and you want to know: what's next? The holiday let you level up all the way to 350 Cooking with easily purchased vendor items, which was awesome, but cooking tops out at 450, so maybe you're wondering how to get up there. Let us help. You may not have made it all the way to 350 during the holiday -- if you need to nab a few other points, you'll have to head to Outland and level up there for a little bit. Talbuk Steak is a good one to do if you need that extra boost -- it's vendor purchased, easily farmable (or buyable on the AH), and the Stam boost isn't bad. Once you've hit 350, then you'll need to head to Northrend. You can train at the cooking trainers in the faction inns in Dalaran. You'll probably also want to stop off and pick up the Northern Cooking quest, as Northern Stew will help you get relatively easily to 375. After that, it's time for the booze.Continue reading Cooking after Pilgrim's BountyFiled under: Cooking, Tips, How-tos, Fan stuff, Leveling, GuidesCooking after Pilgrim's Bounty originally appeared on WoW.com on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 20:00:00 EST. - Spiritual Guidance: When is a good time to start healing?
Every week (usually), Spiritual Guidance will offer practical insight for priests of the holy profession. Your host is Matt Low, the grand poobah of World of Matticus and a founder of No Stock UI, a UI and addons blog for WoW. I'm in the midst right now of a possible guest appearance on WoW Rookie for healers looking to get started. It should be finished within the next week or so. One question that was asked is when is a good time or level to start healing? At what point does a priest transition from leveling and wrecking mobs to healing raids and the like? I had to dig deep and really think about this for a while. Obviously healing didn't start when I dove into raiding. I picked up some of the basics of it before. Dungeons and instances? Yeah, 5 mans helped but could I stretch it back even further? The moment I started healing was when I grouped with other players out in the world. It set the foundation for the lessons I would pick up later on.Continue reading Spiritual Guidance: When is a good time to start healing?Filed under: Priest, Analysis / Opinion, (Priest) Spiritual GuidanceSpiritual Guidance: When is a good time to start healing? originally appeared on WoW.com on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 19:00:00 EST.
