10 TOC champions

This is a short guide to the 10 TOC champions fight. There is no straight strategy as this fight will be different every time you run it. But I will give a basic guideline you can go by that may make things somewhat easier.

The champions fight is a pvp fight versus six champions either horde or alliance. All of your standard pvp issues pertain here. Diminishing returns on CC etc will take effect. Each class of champion will use all of its different class abilities from cc, to fear, to silencing and stuns etc. Being there is not really a strategy, this article is primarily tips for how to deal with different situations. In the next section I will line out a rough kill order by class.

The first thing to be aware of is tht this is a pvp fight. So anyone holding pvp gear should probably switch into it if its half way decent , and it would be beneficial to have all raid members equip a pvp trinket for cc to remove movement impairing effects.

Your raid members need to be aware of their individual duties during the fight. Make sure before start to mark your kill order on targets and who is responsible for cc's, interrupts etc. Mass dispel, tremor totems, frost traps, etc all come into play fro crowd control.

Be aware that all cc suffers diminishing returns starting at 15 seconds and scaling downward. SO, assign 2 man groups to any opponent your going to cc, and have those two people switch off.

Make sure that people realize the opposing group will RANDOMLY focus on someone. The focused person should move away from the healers in their group and play defensively.

Dispel, counter spell, silence etc as much as possible. The kill target should have all defensive buffs removed and all possible offensive buffs applied.

Kite the melee when possible rather then straight up going toe to toe. Kite them until it becomes their turn in the kill order as it will alleviate the strain on your healers.

Be quick to remove any CC on friendly targets, ie, the use of individual trinkets and things like mass dispel, every man for himself etc.

Make sure someone gives attention to Hunters / Locs when their pets are taken care of so that they do not resurrect them.

The general idea is to down one of the two healers, whoever is worse, CC the other, keep up your debuffs, etc and whomever else you decide is going to be cc'd while kiting the rest away from heals with the kill target. All possible raid members not involved in CC need to focus on the kill target with the exception possibly of the raid member who is being focused by the opposing group. That person serves as an "Off tank" and does their best to occupy the group while everyone else remains focused on the Kill. Again, play defensively. Place frost traps and tremor totems if available in the middle of the field for crowd control, and the person kiting should move across them. Root, freeze, and chain help for CC of bothersome toons like the rogue. Another good idea if you can hold him is to take the second healer who was not downed right away, and deatgrip him to the perimiter somewhere and chain or root him there as far away from his party as possible.

As i said, there is no real "strategy" for this, just tips and advice. But these are the genral guidelines used in conjunction with the general kill order lined out in the other section.

General Kill Order

This section will line out a general kill order for this fight. This is going to change based on your party makeup and the makeup of the opposing faction. Again, there will be six opponents in the other group. I will categorize the groups in three sections and provide a few notes on individual types here and there.

Category A

This is the highest threat group. It should be top on the kill list and includes the healers, the rogue, and the hunter and loc's pets.

Resto druid, Holy preist, Holy Paladin. Either the druid or  Preist will be the primary healer and need to go down first. The resto druid should always be the first kill if present. The other healer should be a CC target. It is not generally a good idea to try to kill both healers first as you will have to much dps to deal with doing damage elsewhere.

Rogue...he needs to be a top kill, or a primary CC target. A DK in conjunction with ahunter can normally keep him under control, but the hunter will be needed to also use aimed shot etc on casters. He will fan of knives etc in your rad so if he cannot be cc'd then he needs to go down asap.

Pets....the pets, hunter and loc, are a nuisance. For example the felhunter counterspells, so try to down them quickly and then keep their respective master somewhat busy so he does not bring them back. They have less life and should go down relativeley fast.

Category B

Ranged DPS.... shammy, hunter, shadow preist, boomkin, mage fit in here.

The shammy ...throws down fast totems and can augment the healing, should be a top kill, over the boomkin if present.

Boomkin...a real pain, he has his tree adds etc. If he cant becontrolled till shammy is down, or no shammy present, he should be highest category B kill.

Hunter...good ranged damage, but his bigger problem can be his pet. Try to stun him occasionally and take care of him after the higher priority targets.

Mage...sheeps and point DPS. The mage can be killed here, or if under control, moved to the next category or killed last.

Shadow preist... can be a nuisance, but still lowest on the kill order for the dps group. Counterspell or the like to help control them.

Category C

Melee DPS  Warrior, Deathknight, Retribution Pally

This is the lowest on the kill order because if kited well through crowd control methods, they can be kept under control. Try to keep them out of the middle of your raid to avoid things like the warriors whirlwind etc and you should be ok. The occasional CC on one that is running rampant, especially if after one of your healers, helps. The kill order here doesnt really matter.

Depending on your opposing makeup, you may want to kill the second healer before you enter this last category for kill order, or fit the second healer into here. However, it would be recommended to fit it in after the worst of the high priority targets are dealt with. A good example would be after the boomkin but before the shadow preist.

Again, noneof this is set in stone, ad depending on your makeup and that of the opposing group, things may and will change every time. But hopefully this serves to give a sort of "guideline" to go by to make the job a little easier.
